Any drawbacks to using GetResponse instead of Aweber?

I've had Aweber for awhile now, but my lists are still relatively small. Now that I am writing more products and reports, I bought DLGuard for protection and ease of use. The issue I have is that Aweber still requires the double opt-in so that someone could buy my product but they would still have to opt-in via the email after they get the book/report.

I've been told that with GetResponse, they would automatically be added to my list and they don't have to click an email for that to happen.

I looked at GetResponse and see that they have some neat features but I am wondering are there any real drawbacks to switching?

I dont know the answer, but i remember ages ago there were threads which were debating both, and feature differences. You would have to use the search function really.

I use Getresponse and one of the main reasons I'm happy
with it is the support of single-opt in.

It does not, however, support email only opt-in. It requires
a name. There might be a way to game the system to autofill
the name field with "friend" for example, so your subscriber
is unaware of the requirement for the name field to be filled.

I've just got Getresponse for a year's subscription. Still trying to figure out how to integrate paypal to it, and other stuff.
Sometimes I find more aweber video tutorials than Getresponse, so having a bit of difficulty.

You dont. They dont offer parsers like that. Using the API it can be done better than Aweber though.

GR tutorials and support is lacking. A lot. Just always as the same question in email, the forum and phone. You will get incorrect answers w/ all three.

I use GR and like it for the most part though.

        Hi Garrie
I think they just added this last year. Email Marketing Tips - Blog GetResponse Blog Archive PayPal Integration
I went through it except I did not receive the email after adding.
I've heard a lot of people using the term API, but is it something that non-techies can use easily? Must google that.

I just move all sales through a shopping cart and the cart
parses the data to the list I want to build. This approach
collects payment and delivers the product download link
through the cart while the subscriber base is built on
autopilot. I often use this approach with free list-building
      products too.

I've been working on a report about how and why I do it
this way - as it is extremely useful with some of the viral
marketing tactics I use. PM me with your info if you
want it, gratis, when it's ready.

      • Here is one of many threads on this subject.

        http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...es-aweber.html

Also, TrafficWave (which is owned by a Warrior Forum member here) is also another excellent option to look into.

You can search for more threads using "TrafficWave" in the keywords.

        Enjoy!

I use Aweber on a few of my sites and only us single opt-in. Double opt-in is recommended, but not required.

I've been very happy with Aweber and haven't tried Get Response yet.

I ahd some issues with Aweber deliverability recently and looking at moving as my lists are very small.

I was considering GetResponse, but will check out the Traffic Wave mentioned above.

        Hi Loren,
I'm unfamiliar with shopping carts, except as a buyer, and not as a seller.
Do you have to sign up with merchants account? I see shopping carts on my hosting cpanel, but never tried them.

Thanks a lot! Looking forward to your report.

Imnica Mail available here which I got as a WSO a while back, (not sure if still is a WSO) also offers single opt-in as an option. It's easier for me to set up an html form than when I had GetResponse but I'm not exactly tech-savvy :-)
