Anyone had any success with RSS Bomber?

Had a couple of emails from Dan Raine this week promoting the RSS Bomber WP plugin. I get the idea of it (it generates a different RSS feed for every post) to get multiple top ten rankings with the various RSS feeds, but wondered if anyone has actually had any success with it?

My feelings are that having the top ten in Google dominated by your RSS feeds would only be possible with extremely uncompetitive keywords.

Any feedback from someone who has used it?

I purchased it yesterday. GO to the page, and then click away and you will get a one time offer for something like $29. At least he was giving this price yesterday.

I will try to post results once I have played with it some more. I installed it on one site last night. It creates a unique feed for each page and post. I didn't realize previously that Wordpress only creates a feed of the comments for each post. Not a separate unique feed for the content.

My only question now is 'how do I automate the posting/pinging of the unique feed that is created each time I make a new post. I am not sure that any of the traditional feed tools will work. They are all designed to only send the main feed that wordpress creates. (I think)

Does anyone know of a decent fully automated way to submit RSS feeds. Is PingOMatic good enough?

I've had it for a while, it's a nice tool but it falls down a little in application.

The issue I've had, and I've spoken to them about this is aggregation.

Typically with your blog or site, you simply grab your feed and submit it to the RSS sites, feedagg etc, no problem.

However what happens with RSS Bomber is you have , in my case , hundreds of URL's and no way to aggregate them for submission apart from manually, which in my case, simple means it isn't being done, the scale of the job is way to time consuming.

I spoke to their tech support a few days ago actually and they are apparently in discussions on building an extra plugin which will export all the RSS feeds to a text file.

This will then allow you to simply take the text file and use one of the many RSS aggreagators online, then take that single feed and submit it to your favorite RSS sites.

I've asked them to consider making the plugin function so each time it's run it generates a new text file which only includes the URL's since the last time you run the app, so you don't have to manually weed out where you got to last time.

You can then use SEN or Mike's RSS tool or your favorite toy and submit the aggregated feed.

There's still a major downside in that you'll have to choose a timetable and manually go and aggregate your list of URLs, but it's better than nothing.

The plugin idea is great, it's just the actual application of using it successfully isn't so hot.

Many thanks for the feedback, from what you are both saying its only half a product at the moment.

I was about to purchase this today, but with a quite a few blogs in my network of sites, the last thing I need is another set of manual daily tasks, so I am giving it a miss.

If you're looking for a product that not only creates a feed for each post, but also automatically submits it for you, you might want to look at Web Traffic Genius. It's more expensive, but it's completely hands off once you install it. Another feature I really like is the ability to add a list of other pages to it that will be added to the feeds however you specify. For instance, you could add all your ezine articles. Then every time you make a post, a feed would be created for your post plus an ezine article (or the number you specify). It's a great way to get backlinks to not only your site, but to also "promote the promoters."

Thanks everyone for their feedback, much appreciated. I agree Simon that a great feature would be for it to auto submit to an aggregator.

Just wondered if anyone who's used it has actually seen any benefits e.g. RSS feeds ranking in the top ten etc?

You'll find most people use RSS as one element in a raft of back linking techniques so it's extremely awkward to single out to what degree RSS alone helps in the SERPS.

My gut feeling, and this is based purely on experience is that the link value is relatively minimal nowadays, but due to the huge spread it's worth having.

Other benefits are simply that other people pick up your feeds and you can end up with your content being syndicated around, more back links and so on.

Plus of course it does help with getting new pages indexed.

I've personally never used RSS on it's own so can't really comment in any more depth.

        Hey Folks

I'm considering getting RSS Bomber but am not so sure based on what I have read here. What about the bonuses that come with it. Dan Raine is stressing one bonus that is the recording of a seminar he did recently. Was it really all that good or worth the price of the product itself?

Hope someone responds soon since the bonus is being dropped in 24 hours.

        Thanks a heap

          Hi

I went ahead and got the plugin, and the bonus, mainly because of the fact that the bonus was been dropped in 24 hours (I should know better than that by now!).

The seminar bonus is claimed by Dan to be something that isn't taught elsewhere, but I'm afraid that it is. I've seen it taught by Jeremy Kelsall and by Ross Kenny in WSOs, so it's certainly not unique - it's about inflating views to your Ezine articles to get them on the most viewed and most published lists. In fact, the way Dan teaches it, I'm not sure it won't get picked up by EZA.

It's a good tip if you've not seen it before, but it's not unique.

I would buy RSS Bomber if you want the plugin and think that you'll get use out of it, not because of the bonus.

Little tip for those using RSS Bomber, it's not ideal but it does the job if you already have a site full of URL's.

Go to your XML Site map. (Install if you don't have one)
Cut and paste the entire site map of URL's to Excel.
Keep column A only with the URL.

Do a find replace with your file name extensions so for example:

    www.yourdomain.com/yourpagehere.html

Then do a Find & Replace of .html to .html/feed

And voila, you've now got all the URL's of your isite in /feed format.

Then pop over to say rssmix.com which will let you combine them all into one feed.

Then take that feed URL and go shoot it off manually or via you're favourite RSS submission tool to all the RSS sites.

NOTE , I've not tried this yet, just thought I would put it out there, should work flawlessly< I'll try and do it today.

Doesn't resolve the ongoing new content to your site but should give you a great whack of long tails back to individual pages on your domain , nice bit of deep linking to cheer Google up.

If you're on WP, you might also like install RSS Footer or similar so if people do siphon your content off to autoblogs etc, you're getting not only a direct link to your root domain but also to the individual URL again.

      Thanks Sentient

That answers my question. I'll pass for now based on your comments and others as the plugin also apparently still needs some work.

      Hi Simon

Did you get to trying the trick and did it work?

What I can't work out is why Dan felt the need to add a bonus that he must know is out of date. He could have easily added some info to update the Ezine situation which would mean people wouldn't be wasting their money.

He just didn't need to do it. I'd have bought rssbomber on it's own, now I don't trust him. Is there anyone honest in this game?
