Traffic Bug Users..Be Very Careful!!!

If anyone has joined the program Traffic Bug, you should consider pulling out immediately. I signed on a few days ago and when I tried to log on today, I received a message stating that the site was an attack site. Needless to say, my computer would not let me override it.

The worse part is that my rankings for my top keywords (the ones I tried to improve with traffic bug) drop about 8 pages on average on Google....I am pissed!!!! This will cost me a lot of money, because I was on page one with several keywords for a very competitive niche. I was trying to go from the bottom of page one to the top 5 and now I seriously regret that decision.

Just thought I would post this so nobody else has to go through this. I am really feeling sick right now!!!!

I am not using traffic bug right now, but I never found it to be an attack site when I was.
    Why don't you email them?

Their method is slow and steady backlinks and bookmarks. Just a few a day. So that usually is not a problem with rank loss.

However, Google is doing a lot of sifting and shaking things up. One day on page one, next day on page two for one site in particular. After a few days, back on page one. And I see several others in that niche, usually on page one, going through the same thing. They got put on page two right along with me.

This time my position there is lasting longer. I am not happy, but have learned not to put all my eggs in one basket. Never rely totally on natural searches on Google with your site. Your income can be lost in a blink of an eye, if all you do is rely on natural searches, as your ranking can drop anytime.

I recently paid for some backlinks from someone else and found that Google put my site from #8 to #10 to #16 for my main keyword. I cannot prove whether it was the new backlinks or not.

This is going to happen from time to time with the Google dance and it's latest algorythms. Seems to happen more often than it used to... no matter what you do. I would point my finger more at Google than traffic bug.

Just keep the links building and make sure you have good seo on and off site. Then you give it some time.

Is it a newer site? A new site will sometimes pop up on page one or two for a while and then go back down. It is just the way the cards are played with google. Your site has to prove itself after an initial burst.

So keep an open mind. It may not have had anything to do with traffic bug.

I never had any probs with site itself, however some of the directories they put links on were definitely toxic. I checked out a few of them and my AV threw up all sorts of red flags.

That was all in the first month on a free trial period through the 30 Day Challenge last year. Haven't been back since.

I have links building from everywhere and normally I would not have blame it on traffic bug...except for the fact that all my sites that I recently added on to their software dropped dramatically. Not to mention that I can not access the site because of malware with firefox and chrome...seems like a huge coincidence.

The site in question is not a new site...the other two that I added to the system are, nevertheless....the same results on all 3...Huge drops in ranking.

    Your computer? Or your browser?

If the latter, you're in control of its settings, are you not? And you've chose which browser to use.

    How did this happen?
In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message.
I agree about the directories. There is far too many crappy directories which they submit to vs. good high quality directories (Like Yahoo, BOTW, Business) so if they do ever fix their site just de-select that option.

The bookmarking feature was nice. It's a quick way to ensure a site/page is indexed quickly.

Why did you omit that the page that shows as an attack site is after you LOG IN and then go to the tools page!

Which is obviously using third party api's to provide the information you might be seeking by using the various tools. Like the reverse ip lookup and the many other tools presented?

Before screaming that the sky is falling try providing accurate information first.

A search on Google for Traffic Bug is showing "This Site may harm your Computer". It would seem they've got a problem that needs sorting out.

  • I think we need to see some evidence or maybe they too are victim of virus attack. Never used traffic bug but we need to be fair as always.

I took advantage of their free trial a while back and they're still making directory submissions for me - I didn't sign up at the end as I'd heard lots of bad things about the places they post your links too. Only problem is that once you cancel they keep posting!

Thank you for the alert. I was actually getting ready to join Traffic Bug. Think I will hang tight and seek other options.

May I ask if anyone might recommend any similar sites that are proven worthy? I could do the same manually, however I am not as concerned about the time it would take as I am knowing how to do it without being spammy.

Anyone tried out Free Traffic System? I signed up free the other day due to I have several WP sites that I thought they could assist in helping me boost traffic.

    Thanks in advance.

As a Traffic-Bug user for about 6 months, I received an email from Mike Roberts there on 4/26 at 4:40 pm. Their site was hacked without any account damage, but he did say this:

"The bad news is Google visited our site right at the attack and put a warning up on our site. So this morning we have requested another review from Google to scan the site and remove the warning but they are taking their sweet time with it. So far we have been waiting on Google for four hours and hopefully the wait won't be much longer.

If you visit the site in Chrome or IE browser you will have no issue visiting Traffic-Bug. However if you try to visit Traffic-Bug in Safari or Firefox Google will give you a warning message. Don't fret all is ok and all your files are safe and secure!

We just need Google to re-check the site and give it the green light! In the mean time the service is running 100% and any submissions you made will still be running without a hitch."

But I'll tell you this, in all of the time I've been with them, I'm not positive I have received more than a half dozen backlinks from all of the directory submissions for my 7 sites. And it is impossible to maintain the aggression levels - make a change to lower one and increase another, and their system reverts it back to what it started with. Support was no help... worse still is the odd directories that they use and the strange categories the sites somehow get submitted under. My weight loss site was submitted under some sort of automotive category once... other strange happenings too... a music listing, a games listing... I've kept all of emails from the directory acknowledgements.

But I do credit them for getting me listed in the SERPS within hours and they have some handy tools to use on their site.

Most of my sites still come back high on page 1 of Google and Yahoo, but Bing is a different story.

Anyway, I hope this shed some light on the Traffic-Bug happenings of late.

My experience with Traffic Bug so far...

I signed up at the recommendation of marketer Bill Mcrea (who I'm not real happy with...but that's another story) and so far the service has done nothing.

Even worse, every time I create a trouble ticket to ask for assistance they delete my ticket!

    Now that's excellent customer service.

Suffice to say, I'm done with them.

They have a lot of work to do with their interface and their process, IMO. Until they do, it's not worth the money.
