Hey all, I was wondering if everyone puts passwords on their ebooks and what software they might use? Any direction would be great!

Thanks,

Bob

I use ebook compiler software called Ebook Pro, which will deliver unique usernames and passwords to customers automatically after purchase. Each customer only needs to register their ebook once, so no worries about lost passwords.

I've never had one complaint from a customer about the software. It works great for me. Been using it for years.

Gawd , has this been improved nowadays?

We used it many years ago, god what a headache.

We loved we could turn of somebody's access on refund request but dam.

      It was never ending hassle.

Firewalls, forgotten passwords, no Mac compatibility.

Random access denied based on levels of SPacks on Windows.

Wanting to access the ebook on a different computer, they couldn't do it.

Customers from military, education etc, couldn't access due to locked
      firewall access.

Total devastation if the IMC stop selling the product, not possible you say,
      apparently assocTRAK was laid off.

We were doing 50 sales a day or so and had to double our customer
service team to cope with the never ending support.

Where I saw it being useful is if you were selling very high ticket items
stuff in the $150 type region, then I could see it being worth the hassle.

EDIT, ok reading your review, seems they have upgraded it somewhat, btw
are you allowed to include affiliate links in your posts?

It's better to distribute PDF files then EXE ebooks because of viruses that spreads like crazy and which are also in exe format. I would advice you "Adobe Acrobat" it's a bit pricey but worth it but you can check out cheaper ones like Nitro Pdf Professional etc... or there is a free one too... Just google it. Also, don't use password it will be a headache at some point.

I'd bag the ebook idea and throw it in a three ring binder, get a better sales page and raise your price.

        ebooks = freebies

Almost no one is going to photocopy and redistribute your real book. Plus no more headaches with lost ebooks from crashed pc's, forgotten passwords, sharing of your ebook on rapidshare et al, etc.
