Malwarebytes is the best I know. Download it on a friend's computer and then put it on a memory stick. It's free.

I have heard that Kaspersky is highly rated, Home Computer Security - Kaspersky Lab United States and you can buy it as a physical product over the counter.

Bear in mind though that whatever you buy from a shop will be out of date, and will need to be updated via a download. Most AV software updates on a daily basis.

      Hope this helps.

Here is my problem, for somereason when people are going on to a few of my websites they are getting warnings ect.......I have scanned my computer and nothing shows up at all? I checked with google webmasters scann tools and they are showing nothing either?

So I am not sure whats really going on, other than I need it fixed. So people wont be scared off from my websites.

It sounds like your computer may be clean, but there are files on your server that could have a problem. It might be an idea to have a word with your host. Or take a look at this site which will hopefully be useful - BadwareBusters

          .
Have you asked any of those people which anti-virus they use? Kaspersky is notorious for giving false positives. Just that happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago. She phoned me to say a visitor to her training website had received a warning. I told her to ask which anti=virus they were using, and guessed it would be Kaspersky.

Do a full scan with malwarebytes on your own computer, to be sure there is nothing on there. You could also try superantispyware as well.

If you post a url or two, maybe we could try for you here - and anyone that gets a warning could post back which antivirus they are using.

Malware bytes is the best out there honestly. It's better then any paid version available. It's what the majority of computer technicians use to remove virus fro their clients.

Kaspersky is also a great program. It's from a Russian developer and thats where most of the viruses today come from. So to think of it in a scammy business prospective, I would guess most viruses come from the same developers.

My hosting server did a clean sweep of my files and removed what they said was some code in my php files? However they couldn't tell me exactly which files they removed it from.

So my sites are now clean, I am not sure what it was or where it came from, but all I can say is scan yuor downloads before opening them if at all possible.

Thanks for all your suggestions Warriors and your help, it was only a few of my sites not my computer. They are now completely clean of of malicious scripts, of course I have no clue what they were, just that they are gone, yee ha!

I think Mcafee is the best antivirus software for removing the viruses and trojans from the PC. As this has updated database files, also it has ability to avoid internet threats also.

    HijackThis from TrendMicro. It's free.

Be careful with it though. You can seriously hose your registry if you don't know what you're doing.

If people are getting warnings from your website but nowhere else then your server/host could be infected. I have even heard of cases where a domain's host became infected and it migrated out to the website itself {Godaddy}. Your host server is a computer too and needs regular virus checks and to be well firewalled same as your home computer. I'd contact your host about the problem, first off.

A lot of people have mentioned Malwarebytes - what you might want to know is that Malwarebytes has a way to randomly change the name of its executable on download - it sounds like that was something you were concerned about.

The ugly truth is that even the major players are having problems with their servers being hacked and infected with trojans (which is nothing more than a back door into your computer). Google, Financial institutions and even the DOD are constantly playing defence.

The solution is to always keep a fresh set of backup files as pointed out above and watch your site diligently. I check my site every day. It helps to have a 'roll your own website' and be intimately familiar with your source code. You eventually learn what to look for (<script). If you didn't put it there... it doesn't belong there. Same is true of directories.

If I find anything I instantly whack my files with no previous notice and then upload my fresh backup files. I'm up and running in no more than 90 seconds... trojan free.

I run Linux on my personal machine and have no worries. Lock your root account down with a super strong password and work your normal day to day activities from a normal account. Never had a problem.

    Good Luck!

If you have a machine that is currently infected, especially if it's infected with a Rootkit, here are your absolute BEST steps.

(1). Go to: NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help - Tech Support Forum

...and start a thread/ticket to get your machine clean.

To see how it's done, here is an actual thread/ticket, one of my clients opened: Hit With The Double Whammy XP Defender Virus and AVE.exe Virus - Tech Support Forum

Any time we have a client or VA that gets an infected machine, this is where I send them and these guys are batting 1000%! There is no charge for the service but they do take donations.

Read the instructions on the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Removal Help page carefully. You will need to:

    (a). Set up a profile
(b). Put your OS in your profile and any service packs, etc.
    (c). Explain your symptoms
(d). Explain any steps you have taken to correct the issue(s)
(e). Download the DDS.src and the gmer.exe to a flash drive
(f). Take the results from those applications and post them to your thread and the team will respond

After machine is clean, I would Install Comodo on your on it along with the CTM Comodo Time Machine. The CTM out performs the Windows restore point by light years. Most root kit viruses are written to disable the Windows restore point; it won't happen with Comodo.

The four applications we install on all of our machines are:

    Comodo Anti Virus
    Comodo Time Machine
    Malwarebytes
    SpyBot

If you have those four applications in place and perform weekly updates and weekly scans, you'll be fine.

P.S. There is no product you can buy to defeat Rootkits without someone having the expert knowledge of registries and applying that knowledge to the latest viruses, Trojans, rootkits and malware.
