Market Samurai vs. Free Traffic Travis

I currently own MNF and love it. I will not be replacing it but will be using this in conjunction with either MS or TT.

I am currently in demo mode for MS and within the 50 dollar discount so I want to make a decision some time soon.

MS seems packed with a ton of extra features that look great but I am noticing a lot of similarity between this and traffic travis (free).

How do the SEO analysis features compare to each other?

How do the extra features of MS stack up?

monetization?

find content?

publish content?

promotion?

I know a lot of people love MS here and while I think it's a fantastic looking tool I wonder if it is worth the investment when I already own MNF (which I know isn't as feature rich, but keep in mind I am planning on using these tools primarily for KEYWORD research so finding content, publishing content etc seems to be more of a bells and whistles type of feature, since I can search and publish for content on my own anyway).

So, how much more value will this tool add for me?

By the way, MNF 5.0 is great

If your just wanting to use the keyword research/analyzation module of MS, just download their Domain Samurai product. It includes the same thing and is free.

With that said, the keyword module for Market Samurai is ALWAYS free. So pair that with Domain Samurai and you're good.

I've never even heard of traffic travis, I'll have to look that up. Does the domain samurai product find long tails? That is MNF's biggest issue (for me, though 5.0 is better).

It uses the exact same keyword research and analyzing module that is included in Market Samurai. You are able to select min and max's for phrase length for keyword results.

To save time you can download TT from here:

Traffic Travis - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Instead of having to go through their opt-in -> email confirm -> OTO process that takes you to this page anyway

      ---

Edit : Oops they still need a code so that shortcut doesn't help much :-(

I use some function of Market Samurai almost daily, and I'm absolutely addicted to the program.

However, since you're already using MNF, I'd have to say save your money and just add Traffic Travis. The extra modules for MS will almost certainly just be "bells and whistles" based on your description of your needs.

Travis gives out a free tool and you try to bypass a simple thing like an email registration? have some class. it would be bad enough if he was charging for it and you were trying to find a crack for it...but something as simple as an email submit that costs you nothing, and that's very helpful for him to track the apps popularity?

        dont be a douche.

Thanks for all of your input. I suspect that the functions in traffic travis will suffice for me in terms of keyword research.

For those of you not in the know about TT, check it out. It's got some really cool features that all come free.

I don't suggest circumventing his (Mark Ling?) list, because after all, it IS free. Try his list out, if it sucks, opt out.

I have no affiliation with him, by the way.

I use both Market Samurai and Micro NIche Finder and which I prefer kind of depends of what kind of mood I'm in. MNF produces some great niches that I would otherwise never have thought about and really good related content and product leads, while MS really excells on boring in on the competion and marekting aspects. Safe to say I love 'em both.

The MS competion ranking table is also really helpful for assessing the quality of the competition.

MNF is great for long tail

MS gives ok results for keywords and a great tool for getting the top 10 competitors in an easy to use doc... but takes a while to download the results and hogs all my computer resources. For analyzing large data sets it can be quite time consuming (outsourcing to mechanical turk may be better)

You can do most of what the various keyword tools do for free by hand, but it takes time...often a lot of it. Since time is money, I'd rather invest in a good set of tools to aid my productivity.

I have used all three and currently use MS the least. I primarily use MNF to find long tail kw's and then use TT to dig a bit deeper. MS does this well too but I do not like their interface.

MS definitely does a phenomenal job at digging into competitive market research and keyword analysis.

Contrary to what some people have mentioned on this thread, Google External Keyword Tool CANNOT compare to MS.

While MS does aggregate its data from Google External Keyword Tool, MS really shines when it comes to sorting that data (in a way that Google Keyword Tool just can't touch).

I have to agree with some of the other warriors on this thread when they say MS's interface can be clunky at times. MS has a tendency to hog system resources when you're generating results for large keyword lists.

It would be nice if MS operated faster.

I have two computers that I primarily use:
          1. Dell Laptop with Windows XP and 4 gigs of ram (Slower older computer)
          2. Hewlitt Packard Quad Core, 2.9 gHz processor, 16 gigs of ram (this thing's a BEAST

Plus, I have a 40 mbps download speed with my cable internet connection. (I'd say that's pretty friggin' FAST compared to most.)

Even on the lightning fast HP, Market Samurai can at times run a bit slow... BUT in MS's defense, that's usually because I'm mining large data sets: keyword lists with thousands of keywords at a time.

In the end, I still love MS. And MS has phenomenal support and constant updates (I guess they have to in order to keep up with Google's fickle ways).

MS is an essential tool as far as I'm concerned.

Just wanted to share with newbies (I had to look it up): MNF means Micro Niche Finder and it's similar to Market Samurai.

I don't like the way Market Samurai is marketed - seems it is an affiliate thing or something and everyone has a page trying to get you to buy it from them but don't want to tell you how much it costs up front. From what I can see it's $149 which is a lot!

Does anyone know where I can get Market Samurai substantially cheaper?

I did not get a sense of Market Samurai being substantially better than Traffic Travis from this thread. Would be interested to hear from more people about how the 2 compare.

Seems like Traffic Travis is well worth a free download though... Although I saw one site selling it for $77. Is there a pay version with more features or is someone just trying to scam people into paying for it?

There's a free version of Traffic Travis, and a paid version - so it's not a scam. The paid version obviously has more features than the free version.

However, that being said - I am currently using it but I notice that some of the data returned is incorrect.

Market samurai seems intriguing......but what more does it offer than the SEO powersuite......Spyglass, Rank tracker, Website Auditor...ect Also, how would it be used for monetization besides coming up with appropriate keywords...... I guess maybe I should do my research as well, but I would love if I could get an answer from the some warriors as well Thanks.

I personally use MS and TT (paid version 4) and even check Google's keyword tool sometimes.
The free version of TT is not bad either.
Better to check a keyword phrase a few different ways to save wasting time building around a dud.

SEO Soldier: $149 is a lot? Good luck with your business then! You can get that price knocked down to $97 if you buy within your trial period. And the SEO Power Suite is quite a bit more expensive ($249 for a personal edition, 599 for an enterprise edition) AND you pay a maintenance fee after 6 moths or so. Market Samurai is a one time fee.

I've bought: Market Samurai, Article Marketing Robot, Article Architect, Magic Submitter. I also use Imnica Mail and Hostgator. My total expense is less than $400 and my monthly fees are $87 and that includes $67/mo for Magic Submitter. Not that much when you consider the time you save.

Cypherslock I understand what you are saying but some of us are on a very tight budget trying to get started on a shoestring. Sometimes one has no choice but to start that way. If I feel I need Market Samurai and can't do without it then I'll come up with the $97 but if I can find other software cheaper that works almost as well... then I'll start with that.

I don't use Market Samerai as my main keyword tool, I use it as a backup for keyword research.

I use Traffic Travis only for SEO analysis/competition of the top ten of Google search.

You don't need to buy any keyword research tools, when there are free tools available.

A lot of people seem to agree that Traffic Travis is the best for seo and competition analysis, that's good to know, I'll download it.

As for keyword research I am hearing that some of the free ones are not as good or as accurate as MS. But I am hearing that MS's keyword research is free to use if you don't buy the upgrade. So if that's the case, what then is it about MS that makes it worth the $97? What other aspects of the program are worth it?

Not sure if it's cool that I ask this in this thread, but I'll give it a shot: what about MicroNicheFinder? How does it compare to Market Samurai?

The free tool I use is as accurate as Market Samerai keyword research tool. The upgrade is to get access to there other features like competition analysis, which isn't that accurate, compare to Traffic Travis which is free to use.

The other upgrade options are a rank tracker, which isn't accurate, I use Rank Tracker from Link Assistant, which you can use for free.

It has promotion module which finds backlink opportunities, I use SEO Spyglass, which you can use for free.

It has a monetization module, that finds affiliate offers based on your niche. type in your seed keyword, it finds affiliate programs from Clickbank, Amazon, Paydotcom and Commission Junction. You can also create affiliate ads

Find Content module - it finds content off the net from article directories, YouTube, Flickr, Google news, Yahoo answers etc.. you can analysis the page ranking, the backlinks, the age etc. you can save and copy the content

Publish Content module - You can write articles to publish on your blog

To see Market Samerai modules in action check out - The Challenge or Samurai Dojo

I have never used MicroNicheFinder, so I can't comment on that

I'd say in that case to either (a) use the keyword research module of market samurai (free even after the trial) OR take a look at Brad Callen's Niche Finder...for $48 it is a steal. And I do believe there was a similar research tool for $7 on here as well that did competition analysis much like MS does.
