Default Membership Script Woes & Recommendations?

Hey ladies and gents-

My buddy and I have a membership site that we're trying to set up and are having a difficult time finding the right membership script to use.

We have used Wishlist Member but would like our own built-in affiliate program (which it doesn't have). We've scrapped Wishlist.

Yesterday we purchased InstantMember and just realized that they don't drip feed entire pages, only individual files. We're going to give up on that one, too.

Does anyone here know of a membership script that:
  • Has a built-in affiliate program
  • Drip feeds content pages
  • Offers a free trial period to members
  • Gives the ability to offer coupon codes (just an optional feature)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Joe

I use a free one call S2member. Pretty good really and compares with most of the more expensive models.

You can do drip feeding however I link with my paypal and aweber to deliver ongoing content and this also manages the whole process for me.

i use sitelok - from http://www.vibralogix.com with paypal module
Sitelok features

it plugs into the iDev Affiliate program -- iDevAffiliate - Affiliate Tracking Software - Affiliate Program Software

it will cost you

1) sitelok @ $39.95 including paypal module
2) idevaffiliate @ $99 once off - you can choose additional modules

What does this mean? "Drip feeds content pages"

Sitelok has this feature

Pages can be defined as public allowing non logged in users access to all or parts of a page

This is a powerful feature that allows Sitelok to control pages that public users can access. You can create blocks of HTML that are visible to everyone, public users only, logged in users only or in fact just about any combination you wish. This is a great way to allow parts of your site to appear differently for your existing clients. You could for example display different pricing and buy buttons for existing clients using this method.

It doesn't have the coupon feature yet though.

Give mine a try (see sig). Absolutely free, and after developing membership software for 10 years, trust me when I say it's extremely high quality.

Can't remember if EMP has the free trial or not, but otherwise its an excellent script

www.easymemberpro.com and otherwise has all the features you need

Bob Puddy's LFM script is also good, (I'm working with it at the moment), but to be fair I've found there is a a bit of a learning curve with it. (Though not too bad)

My copywriting clients often will ask me for recommendations on a membership site script and I always recommend Login Frequency Marketing (former known as Launch Formula Marketing). It's packed with features, secure, and bug-free. It's not the cheapest but in my opinion it's the best.

Robert's offering a single site license now for $297 so that's one way to get started with LFM.

Since it's not the cheapest, I still check out other scripts so I have other ones I can recommend when a client says price is an issue for them.

Amember can do what you want but you'll need to purchase some additional plug-ins to do it. Personally, I found the Amember script had a steep learning curve for the admin panel side of things. It also gets targeted hackers fairly often as they've had to release several security updates over the last 2-3 years to keep the script secure.

I do not recommend Easy Member Pro as I had problems with the script handling 30+ MB size file downloads for my customers and their tech support refusing to help me for over 2 months. My hosting company, LiquidWeb (one of the most expensive and best in the hosting industry) told me it was the script causing the issue and nothing on their end.

Simple Member Pro looks promising with their recent updates. I own it and will probably use it for an upcoming project of mine in a few months.

Hope that helps,

Mike

Hi Mike

LFM does have a couple of bugs, though to be fair they are relatively minor. I'm working with it and I'm impressed so far.

To be fair I don't think there is a script out there which doesn't have the occasional bug

Here's another option:

RAP / Member Plus

It's not WordPress, but the basic RAP package here:

Rapid Action Profits

has the built in affiliate program and there is an add on that will allow RAP to integrate with WishList that works very well. Have done several set ups for warriors and love the way it works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

John

Kim,

I agree but when a vendor refuses to fix it and tells you in the tech support ticket that they'll get around to fixing it when they're ready to get around to it then that's unacceptable.

Take care,

Mike

I would definitely recommend MemberGate.

It's definitely a bit pricey but it will do everything you would ever want.

It's like the Rolls Royce of membership site software.

I've been using it on my membership site and I'm extremely pleased with it.

This $197 per month model let's you test out a topic and get paying subscribers on board. So for example, a $47 a month priced membership site would only need about 4 paying members or so to pay for the software.

Or .....

A MemberGate site license is a one time only investment of $3,995. (That can be spread over 3, 6 or 10 months if you wish). That requires a monthly hosting fee of $34.95 to be on our dedicated servers.

I think you are paying for the site owner Rolls Royce Fleet and drivers ...

If you're wordpress based and can live with paypal for handling all transactions, check out the combo of RAP + Rapid Action Press.

Instant commission affiliate system is built into Rapid Action Profits and Rapid Action Press makes it easy to drip feed content or make certain content only become available after a certain period of time (say after a 7 day trial, 30 days as a member, 60 days, whatever).

You can do all of that with drupal and ubercart. Only thing they don't do is the drip content but I wrote a module for that. Let me know if you wanna check it out.

Oh also, w/ drupal you could use Clickbank IPN | drupal.org . Then clickbank would handle all the payment stuff.

We've since fixed this problem, so anybody who purchases now will not be affected. We now support fully secure remote URLs for Amazon S3 too. So people won't know where your files or videos are located.

The update was free for all customers.

Apologies to Mike that it took 2 months... I was away from the business for a while due to a break up with my ex (kids involved and long story), but since then we've been at it full blast and new features are being added constantly. Right now we're adding a built in forum... cool huh?

Cheers,

Anthony

Btw.. I just finished coding the new version for David and sent it to him 30 minutes ago, so he should hopefully have an updated online demo put up soon.

Hi,

@OP: IMHO Nanacast.com would be the best solution for everything you need. Not quite sure about coupon codes, but you could contact their help desk or just skim throuhg their massive FAQ to evaluate.
It costs $99 or $149 (if you want to get rid of their domain name and "fully" integrate) it, but it offers way more then you are asking for.

And no, I'm not affiliated nor using it, but I'll change ASAP. The only reason why I'm also having a look for R.A.P. is that Nanacast doesn't offer immediate PayPal payments to affiliates and that I have a bunch of $7 offers that I also like to promote.

In a couple of months I might launch a new solution, that integrates with all major affliate networks and will give you freedom of joice. Just tested the $7 script and it is a huge pain to install and not as solid as I'd like it to be. So I'll give R.A.P. a try and might integrate it into Nanacast for upsells and so on later (as it also offers one click up and downsells).

Best
Sven
