What Color Laser Printer?

Hi, we have been seeking a new color laser printer. The budget is between 500 - 1000. All this printer will do is print full color food labels and a few pics. Has anyone had any luck with HP? Brother? The salespeople seem very hesitant to provide samples and do demos.

Thanks in advance.

We have a Xerox Thermal Color Laser and it does the job.

Hey thanks, what model do you have?

      Some questions:

#1. Are you pleased on a consistent basis with quality?

#2. Are there any hidden surprises that this printer has?

#3. What DPI is your printer?

#4. Do you print a lot of pics?

      #5. Are you using photoshop?

Thanks again, and have yourself a GREAT DAY!

Personally, I would choose black because it would match my study.

Visit ebay and get an old HP color laser - one of the models that they made millions of - you will then get the printer quite cheap - and you will get the expensive part - the toner available very cheap.

I have no idea what models this will be - but I did something similar with a Black and white laser and four years later I am still very pleased.

I've had an HP 3500 for a few years and I am very happy with it.

A few things to look for:

Is printing one-pass or four-pass? One-pass printing is faster.

Is there one drum or four? I would not want to have to pay for four new drums on a printer!

Does it work with a wireless network? I bought this long enough ago that it wasn't an issue, but now I wish it was network compatible. I bought a print server to deal with the network, and that works.

When comparing costs, find out if the printer comes with starter toner cartridges or full cartridges. Lots of printers now come with toner carts that don't last very long, so you end up shelling out a lot of money for toner very quickly. Mine came with four full cartridges, so I didn't have to buy any toner for quite a while.

Also consider any special requirements you have. If you must have duplex printing or the ability to print on special media, make sure the printer will handle it.

I have owned three HP laser printers (only one color) and still have one that I put in service in 1994. I don't use it all the time, but it still works like a champ.
