How to protect my computer?can any body suggest which is the best antispyware/anti-malware/anti-adware?

      The two products I use, and recommend to my clients (I run an IT business) are:

      Malware Bytes - Malwarebytes
      and The aforementioned SuperAntiSpyware.

      Earlier I used to have the combination of ESET NOD32 and ZoneAlarm Firewall installed and occasionally run some anti-spyware and anti-adware program.

      But since earlier this year I am using ESET Smart Security and it pretty much takes care of everything. I am happy with it.

    I had a very, very nasty "bootkit" that was installing all sorts
    of crap on one of my computers.

    Bootkits are real bad and hard to find. I've tried and used
    a bunch of malware things and found them wanting lately...


    Then I discovered Microsoft Security Essentials. It's less than
    a year old, and it's free from Microsoft. It's really thorough.

    Even though it didn't get get the bootkit, the microsoft product
    consistently caught and eliminated malware which MalwareBytes,
    SpyBot, SuperAnti-Malware and others failed to detect.

    I'm not a MS fanboy at all.... but the product is really excellent
    and the company has access to more data about malware
    than any other. I'll bet that's why it works so well.

    Full scans with it are slow, but thorough.

    Which is the best anti malware is not a simple question, but I'd always use one from a well known editor, my preferred are: Trend Micro, McAfee, and Kaspersky.
    Now I'm using Trend Micro Worry Free and I'm very satisfied with but it's a client-server product not a desktop product.

    hey use sum Antispyware,
    I too use an Antispyware named "Advanced System Protector".It not only blocks the spyware b4 it can enter your system,will also clean the infections if any and it gives routine updates of the latest definitions and is very easy to use. The On Execution Scanner & Alert Shields make it more efficient in the case of internet access.
    free version of ASP is also available at cnet which provides free scan and free clean.for me it is the best antispyware.

    the most bad-ass tool is combofix..... it fixes everything.....
    however combofix is to fix/cure only, not preventing and all that....

    for spyware mbam is good... avg and avast for anti virus.....

    Microsoft Essentials is a great option. Then go ahead and reinforce it by having SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes installed on your PC, too.

    This gives you a very solid and free option for protection.

    This of course requires Vista or Windows 7.

    For Windows XP I am a big fan of Avast's Home Edition. Still free and when reinforced with the two other programs and regular scans does a great job of keeping PC's clean.

    I currently watch over about 25 PC's here in the Philippines, and used to watch over 100's in the USA.

    In my former life as a support engineer I used the Trend Micro Suites most commonly. Rock solid, great support, and very reasonable pricing. If you want a purchased product I would go with them.

    Kaspersky is the best antivirus, anti spyware, anti adware. I have had my computer crash due to malware several times before I took to kaspersky. I have used AVG, Symantec, Norton but they have failed me.

    I have not had a single system crash since I took to Kaspersky.

    Well, dare I say it, but I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials (and I am really impressed with it) with Malware bytes. Works a treat!

      Using anything is better than nothing.

      Malwarebytes is excellent for helping to get rid of things you get infected with. No AV software is going to be perfect because you can always be one of the first to get the new virus.

      The best ones routinely and quickly update their database to include new types of attacks.

      Some of them will case system issues with other products they find incompatible. Some will cause your computer to run so slow it is almost unusable.

      Try several of the free ones mentioned. Be careful when running multiple types of AV software though as they can detect each other as a virus and can often slow your computer to a crawl as they work against each other.

      Also include some good habits.

      Never click on any pop up that tells you you have a virus. Shut down immediately and run your Malwarebytes software.

      Don't open files from people you don't know. (I realize when you buy software on WSOs you take a risk so trust them before you buy from them).

      Facebook is becoming a new breeding ground of viruses. Be careful when you click on any links in updates. Especially odd looking ones.

      Combine software with habits and you get the best bang for your buck.

      PS Anyone you who claims you will never get infected using their AV software, just doesn't understand how the world works.
