Hi,

What do people think the best copywriting course in the world is, regardless of cost?

What would someone study, and then practice for years on, in order to become a 6 figure copy writer?

Interested in all ideas!

I've got a lot of copywriting courses and books as you
can see from my copywriting bookshelves below:

Which one is the "best" in the world?

It depends upon where your current starting point is.

If you're relatively new to copywriting and want a step-by-step
copywriting course, then The Ultimate Desktop Copy Coach by
Clayton Makepeace and Tony Flores is a great option. (It's now
    called the Quick-Start Copywriting System):

    http://www.makepeacetotalpackage.com...e/quick-start/ (no affil.)

If you're more advanced, then The Bencivenga 100 Seminar by
Gary Bencivenga is an exellent option:

    http://www.marketingbullets.com/b100dvd.htm (no affil.)

Both of the above courses have been written by two of the
best and widely acclaimed copywriters in the world.

And this also assumes these courses are within your budget.

If you're on a budget, then consider getting some of the classic
    copywriting books such as:

Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples
How to Write a Good Advertisement by Victor Schwab
The Robert Collier Letter Book by Robert Collier
How to Write Sales Letters That Sell by Drayton Bird

    I hope that helps you.

    Dedicated to your success,

    Shaun

It really depends on a number of factors and no one copywriting course will be right for everyone.

Is it to write copy for clients or perhaps just yourself.

What is your preferred learning style. Do you prefer to dive into a book or do you like interaction.

How much time do you have to devote to this.

What type of copy do you want to write. Do you have a specific market.

I think you should gather a list of requirements and then resume your search over at the copywriting section of the forum.

Sorry to say it but high gravity doesn't mean it's a well-written salesletter. If a Clickbank product has a strong offer or a big affiliate commission, then it can gain a high gravity. The site Fat Loss 4 Idiots is a great example of this... from my research I can tell you, it averaged around 0.5% conversion rate for years but got a ton of affiliate traffic anyways b/c of the high affiliate payouts.

      Back to OP's question.

The best or fastest way to become a six-figure earning copywriter is to be mentored by one. They can teach you not only copywriting techniques but the ins and outs of the business.

Take what they teach you, apply it to your own business and work hard and never stop working hard.

One of my secrets to success is that I read or write great copy (sometimes both) every day and have done so for years.

For the self-study route and budget not being an issue, I'd start with Clayton Makepeace's Quickstart Copywriting System. It's the most in-depth copywriting course I've seen to date.

For the budget minded, I'd start with some of the recommended copywriting books found in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...ooks-ever.html

      Hope that helps,

      Mike

Are you near a public college or university? The vast majority have a College of Communications that will offer a variety of courses. For many aspiring writers taking the the two basic English classes offered on the community college level can improve drastically the caliber of ones writing--by learning the simple mechanics of written communications and being challenged by a competent instructor. Also, the CC system usually has a number of evening non-credit adult education offerings that will include a creative writing class or two.

The best writers know the basic writing tools and posses core competencies--and then are able to use specialized training much more effectively.

  • For me, the best course I've taken is easily Jason Fladlien's CopyEClass, which is a webinar based training course, with homeworks and feedback. It's not open at the moment, but Jason relaunches this every few months. The investment for the last run was about $500.

if you want to stop wasting time and just learn it, go and pick a sales letter that you think is Good (or one that people you respect think is good)

and copy the whole thing out by hand on a piece of paper

Do it again for 5 more.

Then create an outline based on these of where you put feature, benefit, picture, bullet...

then research the product you are writing for inside and out till you can eat and breath it and fill in the blanks.

    revise, revise, revise.

everything else between that is fluff (or just great copy) .

John Carlton's Simple Writing System because of all the mentoring you get.

    It's launching again next month.

I believe it has the highest stick rate of any online program.

Selling double glazing for a few years would be an excellent foundation for copywriting imo!

I have to say I love Jason Fladlien's CopyEClass. He is a no BS kind of guy. Straight to the point in a sexy way, as he would say, cuts out the fluff. I actually think he is one of the best speakers I have ever heard. He speaks how he writes. He dissects every single aspect of a sales page thoroughly.

    Your brain.

Oh... and read a lot of stuff about a lot of topics and write
a lot. A lot of copywriting skill is just writing skills informed
    by understanding salesmanship.

Like Shaun, I read a ton of books on copywriting and related
topics. I doubt there is any one magic bullet course that
will make you an amazing copywriter. Even Clayton Makepeace,
who has a $7500.00 course on copywriting, freely shares
a reading list of (I think) 17 or 19 books any copywriter should
try to find and read. Some of them are a little rare, but
most are attainable for a reasonable price.
