Can anyone recommend good U.K. based web hosting?

I'm looking for web hosting based in the U.K. but I'm finding it quite hard to choose as there's so many.

I'd like to hear from anyone using U.K. based hosting or anyone who's had good experiance with one.

Been with them for almost a year, exceptional service and customer care. The part that I like the most is, its run by 2 Internet Marketers, and they will help you beyond just hosting problems, should you encounter any difficulties.

I've never had a problem with their services, in fact I've had them help out on problems that didn't directly relate to hosting but online marketing.

@humbledmarket - I'm looking for fast hosting with unlimited domains & bandwidth.

I have 2 hosting accounts just now - one is has limited domain & dandwidth & the other is free hosting with a memberhsip site. I don't want to build my site on the membership hosting as I may not be there forever so I'm looking for some good hosting to start getting some good sites up.

It's also for SEO pusposes. I'm trying to rank better in Google U.K. & I believe your server location has an effect on your ranking.

I'm based in the UK. I use 1and1.co.uk and never had any problem with them. Having said that there are lots of people who do have problems with them. All I can say is I use their business package and I have around 600 domain names with them. I rarely need to contact them and have had excellent service when I do. Again, I will emphasise that people do have problems with 1and1, so you need to know that. What I do appreciate particularly is their 24 hour technical help line - I have had to use that quite a few times to get me out of trouble and I'm not sure all UK based hosting companies have 24 hr tech help. (and no, I'm not an employee of 1and1 !)

Just saw this - I think 1and1.co.uk's servers are in Germany. Use a .co.uk domain or identify the site as UK based, using Google analytics.

I host with these guys, and have had no problems. Excellent service. You can get an account with unlimited domains, but they do limit bandwidth.

All the studies I've seen show that the location of the server has no effect whatsoever on your ranking. However, a .co.uk domain, hosted anywhere, will give you a slight boost in Google UK (but we're only talking about a couple of places.)

In any event, there's no guarantee that because you are buying from a UK company that their servers are hosted in the UK.

I buy my hosting from Hostgator in the US .

Why do you want UK webhosting? Comparably it costs the same in UK pounds as to get the same or better hosting in the US and pay dollars.

Hostgator is dirt cheap, so are many other US hosts, and 9 times out of 10 you get far more for your money, such as unlimited mysql Db's etc.

I think webhosting.uk.com is a good choice. They have a good support also their prices is not bad. You can check their website and see their services and their prices. I suggest them for dedicated hosting as i have not tried their shared servers.

I could not look at using anyone other then virtualnames.co.uk. They are a fantastic company to work with.

The hosting is brilliant and the customer service really blows any other company I have ever used clean out of the water:

They set up wordpress for me when I was having issues.

They allowed me to host 30 sites from ANOTHER COMPANY on their servers so I could use adwords instead of the other companies holding page (Which had adwords on them but was making THEM money, not me!). All I had to do was transfer the 3 co.uk domains I had to them (which they didn't charge me for and they do not expire for 10 months!).

They even help with writing scripts when I am stuck.

They really are the best.
