Ravi,
Really interested in setting up authsmtp.com with my dap membership site, at the moment i am using aweber and was about to launch but would like to change to a smtp so i can keep everything inside of dap.

just to simplify things really.

Can you let me know how your tests have gone with authsmtp.com as there prices seem a lot more reasonable especially if i can control everything within dap.

Alexio,

We're loving AuthSMTP.com so far. Deliverability is very good. From testing them across our own different DAP-powered sites, we're getting so many more bounces (from non-existing emails, delayed-delivery emails, etc) that we never used to get prior to using such a service.

We also tried FuseMail.com, but they're harder to deal with: They want ALL of your emails from your list to be sent to them - so that they can "verify" them (no idea how they would do that) before they even give you an account there. So we dropped them.

One other disadvantage of using 3rd party email providers like Aweber, is that if you want to use DAP's built-in "mail-merge" features - then other than maybe their name and email, it's not possible to merge any other customer data into your emails, as your Aweber list will only have their name and email id at best - unless you start writing email parsers to sync all member info into Aweber every time someone joins, which is a pain.

Like for example, in many of our emails we send out to members, we include the recipient's personalized, unique affiliate link, etc. You can also include their login info to your site (yours is not a banking site with sensitive personal info, so it's no big deal).

Soon we will be adding more merge codes like phone number, address, etc - which can then be used when integrating with 3rd party services like Kunaki.

And sending the phone number or address (using our CRM feature) would be very handy, to send a reminder email to yourself (or staff) saying:

"Joe Customer is on Day #7. Give them a call at 123-456-7890 and thank them"

Which can be easily accomplished by using merge codes:

"%%FIRST_NAME%% %%LAST_NAME" is on Day #%%CURRENT_DAY%% . Give them a call at %%PHONE_NUM%%"

Or you can include the address and ask your staff to send out a greeting card, or gift card, or some other direct mail from a partner, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Though DAP doesn't yet support the current_day and phone_num tags at this time, it would take us probably about 1/2 hour to implement this, because everything else - the data, the coding infrastructure, etc - is already there. It's just a matter of writing up more merge codes. And we can just keep extending it infinitely.

Hope this helps.

Delavo is: BFM + aMember + RAP x 1000.

It has all the features of any available membership script ever made. Plus more. The level of per-user control of who gets what based on what criteria... is mind-boggling.

You also get something called "Lesson Manager". That's like a live school environment. Whereby they get new lesson each X days/month.

Also another version is "Content Series".

Take a look here for details: Subscription Levels

Hi Ravi,

How does DAP compare with Login Frequency Marketing in terms of features and ease of use?

Wow thats great im tempted to quit aweber.

I was just thinking i want to add a jv invite page, but i would need some kind of sign up form, im guessing there is no way i can implement this without paying for a service like aweber? That is if i decide to go with smtp.

i just need to be able to let them sign up so i can inform them about the product launch ? Can you think of a way of doing this Ravi without a service like aweber?

Thanks man, your support is awsome

I know of a few of the big boys like AMember, WP-Membership, and a few others... but I'm looking for your personal favorite. If it has a multi-site license available, that's even better as I'm planning on extending my membership sites even further in the near future.

So, what's your favorite and why?

My vote goes to DLGuard from Sam Stevens DLGuard - Download page protector, create expiring download links.

It's the easiest and most robust script that I've used for digital sales delivery, memberships and download protection.

With DLGuard you get FAST support if you need it plus it's incredibly easy to secure your website pages for members access only. All you do is copy and paste a simple php code into the top of the page and it will protect it with members access only and ask for a username and password.

Unlike some others ( Memberspeed for example - Not the best support, takes LOTS of server resources and is quite complicated to set up and manage) it's quite a robust script that always runs fast.

You can have up to 2 domains with one license at $147 I believe and another 2 domains for $97.

Hope it helps

Cheers

Reno

I use S2Member plugin for wordpress, and it seems to do what you are looking for. I also use DAP-Digital Access Pass, which is loaded with more features than you can shake a stick at. You can find info about DAP by doing a search here on WF. Hope this helps.

@Flareman,

Sorry, we haven't looked much into LFM. I'm afraid you're going to have to do the comparison yourself.

You can see our features on our home page.

Now, just out of curiosity, I took a quick look at their sales page, and I couldn't even find the word "WordPress" mentioned anywhere. I think they may have a proprietary content management system.

And no matter how good their CMS (or anyone's CMS) is, I don't think it's a good idea to go with a proprietary system that doesn't allow you to build your web site on top of WordPress.

Just not being able to leverage the monster (in a good way) that WordPress is, with its massive list of plugins, themes and community and extensibility, is a big "no-no", IMHO.

I also couldn't find any information on their site support for payment gateways like authorize.net or Paypal payments pro. Nothing about 1-click upsells either. I just stopped reading at that point. Doesn't make sense comparing them to DAP. Apples and Oranges.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend using any non-WordPress solution, no matter what the product is, or what the price is.

I may be wrong about them not supporting WP or the payment gateways. So pls due your due diligence.

Kona,

DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) has a workaround for this issue. We have a feature called "Default Password" where you can "pre-select" a password to be given to all members, and you can then use Aweber to send the "default password" - like "changeme" - and have them change the password upon login.

So in your Aweber confirmation email, you can tell them that they need to click on the confirmation link in order to get the password to your membership site, or something to that effect.

We're also working on a much better Aweber integration, which will make this even simpler. That's coming out in our next version, fyi.

And DAP already has "Aweber TO DAP" flow, where since they enter Aweber first, and then Aweber notifies DAP, your Aweber list can now be "Single Optin". However, this would only work for free Aweber signups. For paid members, you would still need to use the workaround I talked about above.

Hope this helps.

My issue with Wishlist is the Aweber Integration. Aweber will not allow single opt-in when integrated with Wishlist, which cause a decrease in opt in conversions. Wishlist sends out the membership login and pw after a customer registers. So the customer has no incentive to double opt-in with your Aweber autoresponder sequence.

Does anyone else have that problem with the other membership sites?
