    DISCLAIMER: I haven't used both...

But I never tried Hesk simply because Kayako does everything I could possibly want and then some. For $40 (hosted) a month, it's an absolutely no brainer and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Don't know about the hesk but worked with Kayako for over a year and it works amazingly well.

The company where I last worked (before I went out solo) is using Kayako and it's a great platform actually. I've been one of the admins there so I had the chance to test it quite well. Personally I liked it, it has a very user friendly interface. Sorry I can't comment about the other one as I've only worked with Kayako for about 2 years or so.

I let them run it for me. Given the ridiculously low price it just doesn't make sense to go to the trouble of running it myself. And I pay monthly, but I now that I think about it I don't know why. It's not like I have any intention of using anyone else within a year.

100% Kayako. Buy the owned license and get it hosted on your own domain.

Don't bother with the free scripts out there for helpdesk software. Remember that your helpdesk is one of the most important things in your business (or should be) so give your customers the reliable interface that they deserve.

TIP: Have a word with the sales guy on live chat, if you're good you should be able to negotiate a discount for the owned license
