Market Samurai has many other extensive features for a $ Price. Whereas the Google tools are in essence the same thing for free. Depends what you are after. I have used market samurai in the past. There will possibly be other threads lying around the forums asking the exact question you have put forward above. Have a read through them.

I like Market Samurai as opposed to the Google Keyword Tool, but I use both. The easiest way is to test both out and see which one you like the best. I believe you can still get a free trial at marketsamurai.com and the Google Keyword Tool has always been free. Good Luck! -Ryan |

Kind of depends what you want to use it for! If you simply want a list of keywords which are relevant and you can see the competition, then use google keyword tool. If you want to find the same keywords, but also find the good "commercial" or " buying" keywords, plus the competing web pages and exactly what you are up against if you are using seo, then use market samurai. (it does a lot more, but that is the keyword section of it) Either way, have a look at the videos on the market samurai support page, they are awesome for beginners! Cheers |

Market Samurai all the day! A lot more extensive and useful data, especially to find those "golden" long tail keywords.

I like MS for the research value, I paid for the software and find the tools it provides is awesome for finding profitable niches, helps with my marketing campaign planning and product development by showing me topics people really want to know about while at the sametime telling me if it has a monetary value to it. Not everything will make money and having a general overview of the market, whatever niche, helps me make decisions I couldn't make without that knowledge. No tool is 100%, I don't care what the sales letter or features reported say. You need to take your own common sense and marketing knowledge and filter whatever results you get from whatever tool you choose to use. There is value to both tools, the more information you have at your disposal the better. MS uses same data I believe that the Google Keyword Tool uses for part of Market Samurai's data gathering along with Yahoo, Bing and various blogs, news sites etc... into one source. I find MS a really great tool but it is not be all end all. I use both along with other tools and sources but MS, if you an afford the paid version is well worth it to me and I recommend it. One of the tools I use a lot is the Find Content tool which saves me a hell of a lot of time when researching then I use the keyword tool and page rank tool to further explore what I find and then I take that research into my marketing campaign development. I have found using this process tweaks and additions I could make to my marketing that I NEVER would have known about without this tool. The amount of information and sites you would have to sort through manually to get the same info MS gives would be so time consuming I would never do it. Though I use MS more than just a keyword tool, I also use it for product development and market research not just as a domain buying tool or SEO though I use it with those decisions too just not as much as what others get it for. With that said, your usage may vary and you can get the same info from free methods it just takes a little longer than having a tool like MS that brings it in and sorts, filters the information for you. - T |

I use both always when doing my initial keyword research, but for more in depth research I always use Market Samurai. I love using the rank tracker feature in Market Samurai when I'm trying to break into a new niche. Good Luck Lee |

you may use both. Google adwords tool- no. of researches, find related/relevant keywords Market Samurai- no. of researches, find related/relevant keywords, competition analysis, commerciality of the keyword, etc. try to use google adwords tool to verify your results related to the number of keyword search. But as for me. Im with Market Samurai all the way. |

The old GKT used to be fine for quick searches but the new one is too much trouble.

The Google Adwords Keyword Tool is NOT great for SEO, hence the name "Adwords" in the title. |

Market Samurai is much, much more than a keyword tool. It does draw on the Google adword tool for frequently used keywords, but that is where the relationship ends. You can build a business by utilising the info produced by MS., but the adwords tool is keywords only.

You have to ask yourself. Would you feel better bringing a knife to a knife fight or a semi-automatic gun to a knife fight. There really is no comparison. Don't get me wrong if a person does not know how to use a gun they will get their arse whipped with a knife. In other words there are people who do well just with the adwords tool for creating orginic campaigns. |
