Any comments about the best list buidling method/technique/software out there ?

Would love to get cranked up in list building but don't wanna get ripped off with investing in useless courses etc.

Doing it the conventional way. I would do this.

STEP 1 : Write a free report Relevent to you niche. (or outsource from Scriptlance)
STEP 2 : Grab a Autoresponder service (Aweber, Getresponse etc etc)
STEP 3 : Get A relevent domain and hosting with it (i recommend godaddy for domains, hostgator for hosting.
STEP 4: Head over to Scriptlance and post a job that you would like a squeeze page created for XYZ niche (should cost you no more than $50)
STEP 6 : IMPORTANT : Opt into your own list, make sure you have set up your auto responder and site correctly.
STEP 5: Drive traffic to your squeeze page (Articles, PPC, SEO via a blog, Solo ads... whatever you want, just make sure its targeted to your niche!)

    Enjoy you subscribers .

Once you have a list of 300-500 subscribers, you should consider adswaping to build your list quicker ( safeswap.com is a good site to do this - also this forum!)

Oh, and don't hammer your list with offers, give them value too!

Congratulations, You've just saved yourself $17.

If you want to be able to use ANY PDF e-book or report to build your list, check out a software application called Viral PDF Master.

The potential for this is enormous

Is this your own product? If so, you may want to quantify that while recommending it. Just sayin'.

I am going to chime in on how I do it now. All of the advice is great (btw, maybe this thread should be moved to another forum, because no one talking about a course). However, my time is very valuable and worth money to me. So to do all those things costs me. You can setup a free facebook fan page, title it about your niche, and run an ad on facebook for $20. Because you can so ultra-target your demographics, you put in everything that you KNOW they will like in your ad preferences. If you are not getting clicks from that ad then you will never make it outside of facebook and you will waste a lot of time and money. You may notice I left out the part where you have a product on facebook. If you have that is great, but if you just want to test proof of concept , you don't even need a product. Just a fan page about your topic is fine. Make a couple of posts (video clips, article links, etc). You are just trying to see how many clicks you get. Again the advice others have offered is how we all started, but there is no need to do all that and discover your product is not viable. Facebook is the best testing ground IMO. Better to be out $20 than hours of your time.

I just checked out Viral PDF Master. I must admit it adds a truly interesting wrinkle, one I've not seen before, and I certainly am giving it serious consideration.

Being a new list builder myself I like this idea of testing for cheap. I'll be giving it a try, thanks for all the suggestions here .

Josh has put down all the basic ingredients for list building. But if you want to learn everything about list building then I recommend you list building automation. It covers everything from squeeze pages to getting traffic and then maintaining and scaling the list.

Do you have any review or comments on "Autoresponder Madness" from Andre Chaperon ? I´ve heard it´s even better than List Building Automation.

Sorry Michael I could not see your message earlier. I have really no idea about Autoresponder Madness. But another product is being launched today named Auto Cash Funnel. That has very good idea about list building from different internet marketing events that are organized on permanent basis. I will post my review about ACF on my site today as I have got the access to the product two days back.

I own 6 list building courses that I've bought over the past couple of years.

When I sat down one day and boiled them all down to their nuts and bolts information, in the end, each course really gave the same strategies.

There is nothing truly new when it comes to list building (except one thing)

Each new list building course that hits the market, just goes through and reinforces the basics of list building.

They all just 'tell it' in a different way.

I think you cannot say that of List Control by Frank Kern. That was truely the most unique stuff yet. The stuff he teaches in the final module is super advanced ninja stuff, which he said if he ever released it, it would be the opening to Mass Control 3.0. That alone set it apart from any list building course there has been so far.

Ryan Deiss & Perry Belcher gave some pretty unique list building tactics, many don't cover at all that much.

The best way to build a list is to encourage new subscription driven by the endorsement of existing members. This is best accomplished by using social networking tools and viral marketing mechanisms.

Rashamba made a good point about the testing side. However there are 2 critical things he failed to mention about Facebook. Use FBML to add a squeeze page directly on the fan page and to really make it cool use the trick of requesting a like to reveal exclusive info that then requires an opt-in (look at the Ryan deiss fan page for an example).

You also need to realize that Facebook stats do not always reflect the true profit potential of a market. The simple fact is that most people on Facebook are not there to buy anything. That means that the CTR will be real low (deiss quotes 0.1% as good) and you may not see any sales as a result. Squeeze pages work much better on fan pages than outside traffic.

All that being said. I personally think mobile marketing is the fastest list building tool out there. You can't get cheaper clicks and as long as you use a simple mobile optimized squeeze page, people will opt-in like crazy. I got 5 cent clicks and more than 700 opt-INS in a day for one niche.

Don't thank people in posts. It helps their social presence much more if you hit the thanks button below the post.

    Good luck

Ideas never ends just need an impressive mind Ad swap is very fast way of building lists. Another thing that works really well for me is the viral list building method. Here is how it works:

Send a gift to your existing subscribers and when they go on the download page offer them another quality gift but with condition like send following email (that you will give) to your 20 or any no of friends and ask for a BCC to you. Then do same with new 20 and keep on doing this.

Before you start to think about creating a squeezpage and the domain name etc you really need to find a product to sell and all the rest will fall into place.

My method to test if something is worth persuing other than looking for amount of searches etc is to type the keyword i want to use into the search engines and on the first page if there are any sponsered ads then i know that someone will be searching for my keyword which helps

Also with regards to your squeezepage then it's not been proven yet but if you can add a video of yourself and also some good content with bullets and a call to action then you should be onto a sure fire winner.

Video has killed my squeezepage conversions except for when it was used in mobile marketing. Sometimes less is more and you would be surprised how well a great headline two sentences or five bullets about the benefits of signing up (free video on next page, free report, etc.) and the aweber form may convert. In the end it is all about testing to see what motivates your niches. Use google page optimizer to split test it is free and happens to also be one of the best pieces of software on the market.

Hi K, yes when creating the video then on some occassions if the video doesn't promote you well enough then it can have the adverse effect but on the whole they seem to convert better than just a bog standard squeezepage.

Whatever you do...Please DO NOT spend your money on the $1000 dollar courses...some are even charging $2000 on their listbuilding courses. Please!!! That is a waste and a crime to the average marketer.

I agree with Glen H. A lot of these courses are the same, just told in a different way.
You just have to start small and build your way up just like any other business. You're not gonna blow up your subscribers overnight.
