Wordpress vs Wordpress Direct

Can any educate me on the difference between these Wp adn Wp Direct. And which of the two would you recommend for a newbie.

    Wordpress is an open source CMS (content management system) which is used to build blogs. WP Direct is a membership site that offers members the use of programming (for a hefty fee) that allows the member to quickly/easily build wordpress blogs, fill them with content. I think they offer site promotion tools as well but don't quote me on that one.

    So the main difference is that one is the system used to build blogs and the other is a membership site that offers members access to programming to automate some of the blog building process.

    A bit of advice...

    I think you would be better off learning to build WP sites yourself before you look into ANY service like WP Direct. I hear they are good (and there are a few others available as well) but I do know they are expensive and I think each level is limited to how many blogs you can build and maintain per month.

    wordpress is an open source CMS, you can download the software from wordpress.org

    is very easy to install

    alternatively lots and lots of hosting companies have one click installs as part of their hosting packages for free, making it even easier. For instance Godaddy has this as standard

    Wordpress Direct just looks like a site which teaches you how to do this? Can't really see the point in that.

    Oh, and while we're on this topic: Wordpress.com is run by the same people as Wordpress.org more or less but Wordpress.com is kinda like blogger/blogspot/etc in that your site is completely free but on a subdomain.

    edit: heh, I was restricted from posting here until I had more than 20 posts... so I carried on browsing around only coming back to this tab later... of course not realising there was been a very good reply just before me... on the bright side it looks like we're both agreed! WP Direct is not the place for you
