Anyone use 2CheckOut (2CO) Merchant/payment service?

I have recently started it and processed 2 payments so far. I signed up with a $49 fee and did for accepting PayPal payments + credit card money.

If you have any questions about 2CO or looking for user experience, then you can ask me for advice.

    Hey Tamal,

Do you know how to remove the quantity field from the checkout page. I don't need the users to be able to order more than 1 quantity of a digital product.

    Let me know,

Hi I guess it's set by default. and its set to 1. Your client should not order 2 digital goods, cause it makes no sense. If they do, you can cancel extras.

    Hi,

I was looking at 2Checkout and it seemed a good solution to me until I read this on the Digital Access Pass developers' blog: 2CheckOut.com: Useless For Digital Product Sellers — The DAP Blog

That really put me off! Especially as I wanted to use DAP for a project. But now it seems DAP CAN integrate 2CO after all (according to a later post (DAP-Supported Shopping Carts — DAP Documentation) - I would have to ask the developers about that.

But I am a bit concerned about the issues the DAP guys bring up - is there any truth in what they say, or were they overreacting? It's pretty important to me - 2CO is just about the only payment processor I can use legally in my country...

      Tamal,

What's your take on @markowe's question, where he's basically asking about a blog post made on our web site, at http://www.digitalaccesspass.com/blo...oduct-sellers/ , which was the last time we worked on 2CO integration?

Have they made any change to their policies at all?

What happened with your first 2 payments? Were they instantly "approved"?

Hi the first 2 payments end up going to my account at Payoneer, I see a lot of people have posted msg on forums where 2CO being a hard guy and strict with their policies. Since I'm new enough to share any experience like this.

I like 2CO because it has taken out a big burden from my shoulders. Like accpting paypal and other credit cards, even e-check is a relief. Also with 2CO I'm able to issue a refund.

I used 2co in last year. I satisfied with that service and support. But they have tough rules with customers. Now I use fastspring.com as the solution for 2co. Now I'm saving money than 2co.

Is FastSpring cheaper than 2CO? Do they verify payments manually as is the case with 2CO and Plimus? (Especially payments made with paypal)

2CO direct deposits... weekly *when* you have been an active seller - I am not sure, when I started using them they had specific amounts that you had to reach before they'd pay weekly (I think it was bi-weekly by default?)

I get mine weekly because I reached their requirement a long time ago - and I've used 2CO for years.

        Absolutely love them.

They send the deposit Wednesday, and I get it by Friday morning. I'm in Canada, but I have a US bank account in Florida, so I get it based on their US time frames.

        As for the Fraud issues:

First - 2Checkout has it in place to protect us - I actually had it happen to me a few weeks ago when I was buying a WP theme membership as a buyer, I didn't get "instant access".

However, I did get access within about 15 minutes.

To me, the Fraud system is better than most out there - since they put it in place, I've never had them come back and retract money because of someone claiming fraud. (I've had a few attempted fraud orders, but they were clear at the start fraudulent, even I could see that).

I've also never had a chargeback or any issues with them.

I suppose for digital products it could be a "delay" issue, but you know what?? Paypal sometimes does the same thing, and even CB has very high rates of fraud and returns on digital products.

So my opinion is, I stick with 2CO. (I don't sell a lot of digital products, but when I do - I simply state a remark on my site that it "might" be held temporarily and we'll give access ASAP).

People are okay with that, because we clearly state its to protect them as much as us.

Also - when its a product that you don't "have" to have confirmation at, (i.e., IPN return), you CAN set 2CO to a specific return page, and on regular orders that I am doing a service on, I have them go to the regular thank you page.

I simply don't totally "fill" the order (start the work where applicable), if its flagged.

However - even if it is flagged as fraud, 2CO is REALLY quick about reviewing it and responding.

At least 1/3 or more of my orders are from 2CO, so it's a no brainer to me.

SEO related products and services. I didn't have any loses with 2co. But I like fastspring facilities than 2co.

Yes, it's cheaper than 2co. They have an automated system to verify payments. I saw many completed sales and very few canceled payments. So far no chargeback. Anyway you can't sell a service with fastspring. That's the only disadvantage with it.

Tamalanwar, so I am not sure I understood - you have to get a few payments approved first and then everything is fine? So can you just make a couple of payments yourself, or get a friend or colleague to do so or something? Or just hope for a very patient first few customers?

Where does Payoneer come into it - you are using it like a bank account, right?

Chris, from my research on 2CO and many other payment processors, I seem to remember that money can be wired to you, but direct deposit may be possible in some countries too. The REASON many of us are interested in 2CO though is because we are NOT in those countries where DD is possible and therefore wire transfer suits us, even if it means waiting a month or whatever (actually I think it's not as long as that).

Thanks everyone for the info, but could someone who uses 2Checkout sort of take a step back and explain exactly what is meant by this 'fraud issue'? Is it some sort of additional hoop that ALL customers have to jump through, does it delay delivery of ALL products after payment or is it just for an initial few purchases? Who is getting protected anyway, the seller or the buyer?! I don't actually know how this works, I just have what the DAP guys said to go on, and what a few people mentioned in this thread, so would appreciate more explanation.

Sure. Basically, when you have a regular merchant account, (i.e., utilizing Authorize.net as the "gateway" processor)... any time you purchase something, it runs through a fraud check.

Basically, you could have your address as:

      123 fourth street

      On your credit card statement.

BUT if you enter it as

      123 fourth st.

when you purchase something, it can be easily flagged as fraud.

Or, for Canadians with a psotal code, you might have it as
L2M 4M8 on your card statements, but if the person who set the fields to have no spaces, and you enter it as:

L2M4M8 (no space), it's flagged as fraud.

So that means, a person needs to manually review it to see "why" it was actually flagged as fraud... i.e., is it the wrong name? Is it completely the wrong address, or is it just one of these simple things?

If you enter say your cell phone #, but your credit card statement is linked to your home phone #, they'll flag it as possible fraud.

This is a HUGE protection for merchants/sellers, because it ensures that it is the person who owns the card, AND it's a huge protection for buyers, because it can't just be anyone buying (i.e., if someone stole their credit card and used the thief's address)

Does it happen on all? Honestly I don't know, but I do know that "when" it happens, they are VERY quick about checking and sending you an "all clear - okay to ship/deliver" email. It used to take several hours, but in the past 1-2 years, I don't think I've ever had it take more than about 15 min.

Buyers can handle waiting 15 min for confirmation, to ensure that THEY aren't being stolen from either.

As I said, clickbank has minimal fraud control, and actually I read last night that paypal doesn't have huge stuff in place either. That's why for a bit there, people were getting away with manipulating orders.

I know it might be a little annoying for the dap guys, but other companies are able to get through this.

I know the RAP system, if paypal returns a temporary hold (i.e., a pending echeck) to the IPN system, it doesn't give people access immediately either, BUT - as soon as the payment clears, the RAP system is notified by paypal, and it then sends on the approval to the buyer so that they can then access their purchase.

The credit card system is pretty much the same at 2CO - it simply requires a few moments for the seller to approve the person's order.

If you want to balk about even a 30 minute delay, and you don't care if someone else might be using your credit card, then you can't buy using a credit card anywhere if you expect everything "instant", just use paypal.

But for those of us who DO care that our buyers are legitimate, and that the buyers are ALSO protected just as much as us, then 15-30 min isn't a big deal.

You know, when some people order from the big guys and they complain that they didn't get access... then about 15-30 min later they do get access, this is likely why.

Whoever they use as a processor, whether its 2CO or Authorize.net or the myriads of others, ANY legitimate merchant system will do the exact same thing.

      Does this help?

Amber - AWEsome, that really sheds some light on the whole thing. I am going to read through a few more times to digest everything, but it seems to me that customers COULD be a little bit more patient. A lot of online buyers want it NOW NOW NOW (especially in the IM niche), and it's easy to get into the mentality. A lot of sellers play to that/encourage it and say 'Get INSTANT access', etc. etc. I think if you say something like:

"Buy now and get access within a few minutes, just as soon as your order has gone through our buyer/seller protection process'. Well, something like that, I think I would work on that wording a bit more to make it seem like an advantage, which it is really.

Well, I hope that helps the DAP guys to maybe reconsider including direct support for 2Checkout - I have just bought DAP (check out their 2 for 1 holiday offer - runs out tonight!) and would find use of a service like 2Checkout preferable to PayPal at some point down the line.

    Thanks again.
