I currently have the reseller plan at HostNine and once again, all of my sites and my clients sites are down.

The downtime has been excessive the last 6 months. Additionally they have improperly configured firewalls so even when the sites are up, we have difficulties logging in. Their support is responsive but fairly lame excuses.

Heck, for months they have not had a button to open a support ticket and they keep saying they do not have an ETA.

I had thought of HostGator but I see that they are down as well.

You gotta be kidding me?

I long for the old days when a hosting company would actually migrate your sites over for you, with 24/7 support that actually made sense.

99.9% uptime and they knew about and took action on outages before I or my clients were even aware. And HAD support ticket buttons!

I use Amerinoc.com (also known as PhatServers.com). I've been with them since 2003 and I absolutely LOVE them. They will get out of bed at 4AM when I work odd hours and fix email issues for me within 10 minutes of sending out a report ticket. AMAZING support.

If you ask for Chris Eastman tell him Jennifer Clason from "roughcloud" referred you and maybe he'll give you a deal(?)

Really? That's pretty unusual ... my sites there seem to be working normally ...

Their customer support is brilliant, from my perspective. And if they can cope with a technophobic incompetent like me, they can do anything.

This time they said it was their DNS servers and that all sites were down and then intermittent.

Last major outage, they blamed it on firewall issue.

But every few weeks, something is down.

Support responds quickly, but not even a way to open tickets on your dashboard? It has been missing now for months and the only answer I get is that there is no ETA.

      Really?

I've used 6+ hosting services and in my experience they are either really good or really bad.
I'm surprised to hear that Hostgator is down. I'd recommend Hostgator to anyone, they are the best bang for your buck in terms of overall value and service.

Rackspace is by far the best we've ever used. Their support is instant, knowledgeable and super professional. They are more expensive.

Bluehost is also pretty good. Stay away from GVO or FDC servers (the companies).

Why don't you give Bluehost a try. I've been with them for 3 years now and their customer support is awesome and give valuable answers (for the most part).

I've called them at 4 in the morning a couple times and they solved the issue I was having at the current time immediately.

They've had outages before but are back up and running in a day or two.

I'm with Alexa... I didn't see any HG issues today.

You could also try 1 & 1 - I haven't used them, but every time one of these "need hosting options" threads comes around they also get mentioned.

Hope things smooth out for you!

Thanks to everyone for their input... no I just have to decide if it is worth the pain of moving all of those domains...

When I moved to hostnine, they agreed to migrate my sites over.

Once I confirmed everything was moved over, I terminated with 1&1 and as the hostnine dns propagated, I discovered all of the domains were empty directories!

    Live and learn.

I've had the exact same problems with HostNine. They've been really sucking for the past 6 months or so, ever since they finished their migration to a new server network and new control panel. I'll probably keep the sites I have there since it's going to be a pain to move them but I'm not placing any new ones there. It's too bad since they used to have some unique hosting features that I liked and they were rather reliable once upon a time.

I also have a HostGator account and it's been quite trouble free.

I think it's safe to say that every host out there has its bad days.
    Even Facebook has had downtimes.

You can always request SLA credit during unexpected downtimes (if your host have that policy).

    Hi all,

I am CEO of the company that recently acquired HostNine. I saw this post on my Google Alerts and wanted to post here and reach out to the folks who have been having some trouble with HostNine.

Evie, sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with HostNine. Would you mind sharing with me what your primary domain is? If you want to send a quick email with your information to our helpdesk (support or sales is fine) and a link to this thread and mention, ATTN: Doug, I'll see it and can look into your issues for you.

bgmacaw, I'm sorry to hear that you've had a less than ideal experience as well. I was able to find your account with us and am sending you an email right now. Please let me know what I can do to help.

As Mark pointed out, we're happy to honor our 99.9% uptime guarantee in case anyone encounters more than 45 minutes of downtime per month.

    Thanks!

      1. Improve your reliability.

      2. Make it easier to submit a trouble ticket.

      3. Make the reseller admin interface "less cool" and more practical, especially for people managing over about 20 domains. The old one wasn't perfect but it was better than what you have now, even though it wasn't programmed as 'cool'.

The problem is that it's in small spurts, a minute here, another there. I don't always see it unless I'm working on a site at that particular moment or I notice a significant decline in traffic that can't be accounted for otherwise.

My guess is that there are still some problems with your network routing and security setup since the transition to the new servers earlier this year. This is when I started noticing significant problems.

      Hello Douglas,

I see you are new here so you will not be able to reply to my pm, however, you can email me at the email address I included.

I can appreciate that every host has downtime, ie. software, hardware, dos attacks, etc., etc.

But we have had down times where support has told us that the firewalls were blocking our IP addresses, our admins IP addresses, etc., etc.

      Why?

And having no support ticket button for quite some time now?

Plus, I can appreciate techs not being able to give an exact ETA, but what do we tell our clients when we are told by support "no ETA"?

We have no idea if it will be minutes, hours or days.

I still am. Several of my sites are down this evening due to the HTTP service on one of your nodes being down yet again. Thanks again for all the 'help':rolleyes:

To top things off, I still can't figure out where it was I was suppose to enter a support ticket and which password I have to use to get there. I have to figure this out each and every time due to the totally incompetent web design done on the reseller control panel by Travis Brown and Vissol.

I've always used Surpass Hosting when it comes to my stuff. I've had one problem with them recently, and that was worked out in a day or so. For some reason my website wasn't being hosted properly (brand new domain being set up) and all I got was a default page. After some time, they fixed it, alls good.

OTher than that, I've always had near 100% uptime and no problems with my sites at all. It's relatively cheap too, and they have live support 24/7.
