Justhost.com-Anyone use it here?

Hello warriors,
I saw this site this morning and I wonder if anyone here use the service.
Are they reliable? Is the customer care great? Compare to hostgator? Thanks for your contribution.

They're definitely reliable. They're actually pretty freaking big, so yes you could host with them.

Compared to HostGator though? Eh... I'd still use the gator, simply because it's almost hard to find a bad review about HostGator when it was the companies fault and not the customer.

They are a good company, but I would still go with hostgator, I have been with hostgator for few years and I like their customer service

If you scroll down to the bottom there is a (secret link) which will give you 20% off.
If you go all the way to the payment stage and then cancel, they will email you the next day with 50% off. I found this out by accident! I got 2 years hosting and a domain for £40

Are you a part owner? Lol. I'll shoot you a pm but do they also have the unlimited package like hostgator? I couldn't read their site well because I'm on mobile and the resolution is fairly big. Thanks

I have both. JustHost in my experience has been rock solid. Hostgator is pretty good too. I have not had any probelms with either of them.

Not to say I haven't had issues, but that was only me learning my way around CPanel. LOL

And both of them were great in helping me get straightened out.

HostGator ALL the way! Baby Hosting is like ten bucks a month - Unlimited Emails, Domains, Bandwidth... And a nice Cpanel, Awstats, lots of goodies.

Read this post before you go with JustHost!

Just host has been discussed in many other threads here in the Warrior forum. Just run a search on Justhost. As far as hosting goes, they are the worst of the worst. Their customer service is pitiful.

I had 19 wp websites hosted there. They were hacked, and the hacker changed the passwords to all my blogs so I could not access the admin panel to change anything. When I asked Just Host for help, they sent me links to WP.org on how to change a password thru c-panel, but it didn't work. When I went back to Just Host for help, they basically said "sorry, but we can't help you with the passwords."

I lost 3 months of hosting and 19 websites. Over a 3 week period, I repeatedly called and emailed asking for a supervisor to contact me for help in restoring the websites but no one ever did, I was just contacted by the same unhelpful cs support staff.

I have never had any websites hacked before, so I think it was something lacking in their security at Just Host. The customer support was absolutely horrible. A real nightmare. I canceled my account and explained why, I thought someone would contact me then, but no, they just canceled the account.

You never know how good, or how bad a company is until you have a problem. Any company can host your domains, but if something does not go right, that is when you separate the good companies from the bad. Just host is bad, bad, bad. Run, don't walk away from their hosting.

Even if they were giving away free hosting, I would not waste my time with them. They cost me a lot of time, frustration and $$$, and because they are located in the UK, suing them is out of the question.

I have 2 hosting accounts with Host Gator, and 1 hosting account with Blue Host. I have never had any major problems with either account, but I prefer Host Gator. Their customer support is excellent. They actually go the extra step to do whatever it takes to help or fix an issue to keep you happy.

Just wait. When you have a serious problem you will find out the hard way, just as many on the warrior forum have discovered, JustHost is not a company to trust your internet business with. What would 19 lost websites cost you?
For me, it was a several hundred dollar lesson that I learned the hard way, and one I will never forget.

I'm afraid I can only chime in with MMixon, JustHost is ludicrous, avoid at all costs.

All hosting companies seems OK if you put up 10 or 20 sites on them and eveything runs smoothly for a year or two.

But if anything other than smooth runnings should come up - approaching your usage limits, getting hacked, temporary down-time, etc. - that's where you find our whether you've got a real robust host or a bunch of money-grubbing, unsupportive incompetents.

If you host quite a few sites, long enough, those problems will come up - they all have for me over the years. I've been wth JustHost & Hostgator. How well did my host resolve my problems and provide me with excellent customer service? How easy was it to reach a level 2 manager when I needed to?

      Hostgator:10+
Just Host: 0 or some negative number
Nuff said. Avoid Just Host like the plague

    isn't JustHost UK based?
where are the sites phisically located in the UK or?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3700763].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author mmixon
Yes, they are UK based. Don't know where their servers are located, I'm guessing in the UK because it would be difficult to physically work on a defective server by remote control.

If they had been based in the US, I would have visited my attorney to help them understand the responsibilities as a hosting provider, and to seek compensation for the some 20 blogs that were corrupted and lost because of their sloppy and ineffective, defective security system and firewall, that allowed a hacker to compromise my websites, and for even less than helpful "customer support", if you want to call it that.

There are 2 kinds of customers at justhost...those that have been hacked, and those that will be hacked.

      "Hello,

Sorry but only our support team is located in UK.
Our data center is located in USA. Therefore we can't provide you with hosting in UK.

Please let us know if you need more help.

I just posted a thread on dedicated servers and this stuff always scares me. I asked for recommendations for reliable dedicated boxes with good customer service at a reasonable price but the more I read the more I am leaning to just going with hostgator and forget about trying to save a few pennies. If I lost my sites for more than just a day I would lose my mind and a ton money to go along with it.

I have been trying to cancel my hosting account with them for 4 months. I sent them numerous e-mails providing them with all the information they needed. The online agents were useless, just said send an e-mail to support. Whenever I called I couldn't get through, finally I had to cancel my credit card so they would stop billing me. I switched to HostGator, it's cheaper and way better customer service.

Hacking can happen for a variety of reasons. Wrong plugins can cause this to happen. Also an outdated version of WP can also cause this to happen. And i guess a hosting company as i've read above. There are many variables that can cause a hack. Pinpointing it to one reason is remarkable and with that you can't even confirm it's the reason why.

That said, i've been using justhost for 2 years without a problem. I host more than 30 sites per shared hosting account with justhost.

There are times that i swear hostgator's service is down more than justhost's (yes i have shared hosting accounts with both). Don't see why some swear to hostgator (i know a majority here do) but i guess that puts me in the minority that i recommend justhost over hostgator.

I have over 300 blogs spread over 7 hosting accounts, and have had hosting accounts for 10 years. I have never been hacked before, but was hacked at justhost. And not just 1 blog, but all 19 blogs. I had a password of about 20 digits. The sites were current and less than 3 months old, using the same plug-ins and setup of the other websites I have.

And it does not matter if it is a product or a service, you never know how good (or bad) a company is until you have a problem...something breaks, you have a warranty issue, you need to get a repair or replacement part, you have a technical issue and contact support, etc. All companies sell products and services and you expect them to perform as advertised. When they don't, a company will either help you resolve the issue, because they value you as a customer and want to keep you happy, or they will blow you off and move on to sell their stuff to the next new customer, and on and on...

Not unlike a ponzi scheme where a company must have new customers to sign up to pay for the old customers that have left.

My accounts were not only hacked, but when I contacted customer support, their "help" consisted of sending me articles found by running a google search, or how to resolve the issue. When following the articles to fix the issue did not work and I asked what to do next, their emailed response was "sorry, we can't help you. Repairing the blogs is your job not ours." In other words, we take no responsibility for your hacking. I asked for a supervisor to contact me several times with no response.

After a month of frustration, I finally gave up and contacted them to cancel my account, they never asked why I was leaving, why I was unhappy, how they could keep me as a customer, nothing. They simply sent me an email notifying me that my account would be deactivated at the end of the month.

It is easy to be happy with a product or service. Lots of people were happy when they bought a Ugo and drove it off the lot, until the wheels fell off. They were not so happy then.

The wheels will fall of your 30 sites at some point. No need to come back and say "Mickey, you and the hundreds of other warriors were right. Justhost is a nightmare." We already know that. You have been warned :-)

Sure, i'll take your advice into consideration.

It's nice to know that you've got 300 sites spread out over 7 accounts. While i don't have that much yet, i've got about 100 sites spread out over 4 hosting accounts (30 each).

I've got 2 on justhost and 2 more on hostgator and another. None of them have been hacked over the past 2+ years. Maybe i'm just lucky.

I've seen a couple of warriors (not hundreds) complaining about justhost and not many recommending them. That is why i say that i'm in the minority here.

I can understand your frustration with js's support as you did not get a good experience. Probably they can improve on this really.

I ended up with JustHost when I bought a package deal of some kind with a domain name purchase, that turned out to be an affiliate-review-blog thing with a hefty monthly fee - and it was total garbage.

I attempted to deal with JustHost and they replied that they had nothing to do with the copy=paste pkg (which they most likely did not, but they were not helpful to me to find out how to cancel the recurring payments or even who was behind the deal...) I did cancel the "product" esp. since there was not one response or word of help with it after the payment cleared.

I asked JustHost at the time if I could pay for the domain name, and cancel the hosting: answer was no. They only host, do not do domains alone...

Forgot about it until they Re-Billed for an entire year renewal - and would not cancel - without notice of any kind! Just a credit card invoice, and I was able to cancel automatic renewal but no refund. I could not believe there was no advance to let me make the choice, bang - $104. for this unneeded "service."

I would never recommend this company, stay away. I know godaddy is harder to deal with, but they have always been helpful and intelligent and you can talk to someone within minutes who will strive to help you. That is my experience.
