Default Has anyone used the paid version of Onlywire?

Can someone review it?

Default Re: Has anyone used the paid version of Onlywire?

Hi -

I don't have the paid version but use the free version. However I've been to the site dozens of time recently. OnlyWire is on my site and has been. It worked until a few months ago. I figured I go to the site when I got a chance and see if there was help or support or FAQ's - something. Nada. That's how I found out about the do it or lose it message. Pick free or paid or lose it.

The onlywire page in my admin listed one post as the last and the onlywire site listed a different one. When it failed I didn't know it and was just looking around in admin and found it when I saw what the last post it submitted was. There was no error message on the page where it should be if there was an error. It missed the past 6 posts. So to get those posts out through onlywire I had to submit each one manually. There is no button to do that. You must fill in a form with the post title and url and enter the tags and a snippet of the post if you want. Also doing the manual submission nothing updated except for the tags. And the tags are delimited by a space so any multi word tags can't have a space you must use a hyphen. It's a pain.

So after going through all that I wasn't about to Pay. The paid version is the same expect for 2 things. The first being when you click on the bookmark & share button it opens to give you access to the bookmarks. below the bookmarks is an advertisement for onlywire. I imagine anything could show up there but that's what it is now. Free version you display the ad but paid version not required.

The second is displaying the button. Free version you must display the button above the fold so to speak. When some one goes to your site the button must be visible with out scrolling down the page. So if you normally would have the bookmarking button at the bottom of your article like normal people you must display it twice. Once and the end of your article and also above the fold. This could be done by putting the button in a top position in your side bar. With the paid version you don't need to do this lame requirement. Lame Lame Lame!!!!

This same display above the fold crap was also something John Reese did with the BlogRush Widget. What ever happened to that is it still around. I actually used the BlogRush Widget on one of my blogs. I kinda like finding other sites with it. Oh well that was another time.

Also even though I made my choice for the free version and did what is required when I go to my account at the onlywire site I get stuck on that setup page that I already completed. I got to jump around to get to the real account page.

This whole thing was a PITA and I'm now looking around for something to replace the piece of junk called onlywire. So if any one has a suggestion please leave a recommendation I'd appreciate it.

I think Craig Desorcy had one. Easy Bookmarking Social script I think it was called. I remember it because you could put AdSense or your own ad in it. You could run your own ad in it and it was real reasonable in price. I want to say around $20. You got a website and blog version for that one time price. I think I saw some one using it on Squidoo recently. I'd rather give my money to Craig than the onlywire guy any day. Even if I need to get one for visitors to use and another to auto submit when I post.

I didn't even know that onlywire has paid version.

I rather try Bookmarking Demon then Onlywire as it gives me nice amount of traffic

I added their plugin to one of my blogs so I could stay free and everything works great. It took a few minutes to verify but not a big deal. I like it!

You can see it in action here:

Yes, I've been curious about Onlywire since it went the paid route.. If anyone could shed a light on this...
