I have heard a lot of bad things about listwire, is that true or just bad rumors? Would it work if you just have a small list under 1000 subscribers?

| Listwire offer a free service Or you can get a free wordpress autoresponder plugin but that means managing and sending emails from your own hosting. If you want to create a real business your Autoresponder will be at the heart of your business and sooner or later you will need to pay for a service, such as Aweber. So a free one is good for testing and playing with - but you won't be able to tranfer lists you create yourself onto AWeber |

I think MailChimp offers an autoresponder with their free account now.

I am using GetResponse myself and am pleased. I am running with a free account currently with plans to upgrade as my needs allow.
