iThemes Flexx or Builder - Which one?

I've been looking at the difference between ithemes Flexx and ithemes Builder. Seems that Builder gives a lot more options but is it a lot more difficult to change out things for a non-techie person? Is it still point and click? Does it come with the rotating header feature? Flexx says unlimited sites but can you also sell the site with that theme on it? In Flexx can you also change out fonts and colors for the sidebars? Builder is a yearly charge so is it worth it?

My suggestion is to go w/ Builder. It has a Style Manager plugin which lets you easily change styles of several elements in the site. See Style Manager capabilities? :: Pre-sales and other inquiries :: Support Forum for iThemes & PluginBuddy | iThemes

Anyone know the best way to really learn how to use Builder?

I own it, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it.

Don't give up on it SoundsGood - I struggled too until the Style Manager came out.

From the membership area, go to the support forum and check out the tutorials in the Builder section. You'll be flying in no time

Builder is awesome! It's not that hard to learn and the support at Ithemes is top notch.

I did try Flexx for a while and was frustrated with it because it does not have nearly the flexibility that Builder has.

No, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks, I'll take a look.

I also forgot to mention something: It seems to me that iThemes as a company is more interested in selling Webinars than working on their core product... and that doesn't sit too well with me.

I could be wrong, but that is my perception.

    Definitely your perception my friend.

Being a part of the team taking part in daily discussions and weekly skype calls, I know how much work is put in developing the core Builder and how much more effort is going on in pumping out child themes.

You might want to also see Builder Features - IThemes Codex (it's not complete)

After having used one or more from the following, can you tell me the list of features which you feel iThemes is overlooking to improve or introduce?

    - Style Manager
    - Layout Manager that lets you arrange Image module(s), Navigation module(s), HTML module(s), Content module and Footer module in any order of your choice
    - Custom Module Styles
    - Optional full width modules
    - Builder SEO plugin

You might want to check out Builder - IThemes Codex which I update regularly. See Twitter

Perhaps, but you know what they say: Perception is Reality.

    - Going through the videos and documentation which show/explain how to use the product

    - Trying to use the product

    - Posting in the support forum in case of questions

    - Being specific as to what you think is missing/could be improved in the product

    I call those reality/facts.

I would definitely go for Builder over Flexx.

I'm not a techie but I've found Builder the best website building software out there.

The Style Manager makes it so easy to change whatever color you wish without knowing CSS.

The layout manager enables you create multiple layouts in the same website for blog, pages, membership sites or squeeze pages.

An the Plugins available from iThemes (some included free with Builder) are awesome.

Finally the best thing of all is the support from people like Sridhar. They've always solved every problem & question within 24 hours.

I started out using XSitePro but now build all my websites in Builder. (I might use Optimize Press & XSitePro for simple sales sites).

There is a bit of a learning curve but the tutorials and info on the 'codex' tell you nearly everything you need to know.

The customers only support forum is also a great source of info & ideas but sometimes hard to find what you want - they are always quick to answer though if you start a new thread.

I normally start with a Default Child Theme but they have so many other templates, I will be looking at those too in the future.

Although I've been a long time marketer, I've never been a web designer - but Builder has changed that. I've now built nearly a dozen websites for clients and have more to do.

You can probably tell I'm a bit of a iThemes Builder fan - but not on commission . Watch their tutorials and try it out for yourself.

I'm a big fan of the iThemes Builder, it has a really simple interface. I put up a bit of walk through here if you're interested in it: Create a Custom & Responsive WordPress Theme in iThemes Builder

It does have limitations but all of the customizable themes do. It's definitely the easiest one I've ever used..
