I run a website where I sell my own digital product. My only form of payment was paypal untill a couple of weeks ago.

Now I use TrialPay, I'm sure you guys have seen it on ebay, where you can earn ebay bucks through TrialPay, but it works even better, to add it to your website, and it brings in more conversions. The customer can get your digital product for FREE and you still get paid! Its a Win-Win situation! I think this is a great idea, and ever since I incorporated it on my website my sales have more than doubled.

My Product sells for $24 on my website, but I would rather get paid $18 through trialpay, than have the customer to leave my website and buy somewhere else. The cool thing is that TrialPay transfers your money to your paypal account, so it really is easy to use and simple to set up.

I would recommend it to anyone who has a product ranging between $10 - $30. (Most WSO's are around that price) I hope this helps someone out.

Sounds like a good idea to me I am making a note about Trial Pay.

I'm getting ready to get something out there soon and had a question for you:

Did you establish a separate, verified business PayPal account to sell your product ? Did you do this under your business name? And finally, does 1 Paypal account suffice for all instances that you might want to receive money from PayPal? In other words, let's say that you had products under 2 pen names in 2 different niches. Would 1 generic Paypal account cover you for both ?

I do have a verified paypal account. I do not have it under a business name, its under my personal name, but I plan on changing that in the future. And yes, on paypal you can have as many products as you want to have. Just go to merchant services, and create your Buy Now buttons, and name your product something that is easy to remember.

Thanks for the quick reply Getting Paypal set up is definitely one of those essential details that I tend to procrastinate on or overlook. I like the idea of using a business name because if we're selling to hundreds (optimistically, thousands ) of customers, I don't want my personal info exposed to so many strangers.

I have worked for years as a dedicated affiliate of vendor who uses Clickbank and also paydotcom. He says that customer service is CRUSHING to him. Clickbank apparently requires one day turnaround on customer service inquiries and also a contact phone number. As a potential vendor myself, I certainly don't mind thoughtful followup on legitimate questions. But what this guy goes through scares me. Lots of frivolous and negative stuff. I suggested he outsource this function but apparently he can't find anyone he trusts with his reputation.

Long story short--I at least want the layer of a business identity on transactions. I have been using a DBA for years---it's technically expired but I think I have "precedent of use" or some such at this point. I have a checking account and taxpayer ID under this name. I do notice a lot of folks do business as an LLC so I might have to look into that.

thank you for sharing, I came across trialpay today and love the potential of it for our business model, so it's great to hear about your good experience.

It doesn't seem so easy to get the quick facts from their website however, so would you be up for sharing a few more details and facts?

Like is $18 the standard flat rate they pay per transaction?

Do you have the basic account or a merchant account?

What - if any - are their criteria for accepting vendors to use it?

Any other details you feel would be great to know?

I'm checking it out right now- it looks pretty sweet, but I have a question about how it works:

So basically you use the offer-based payment system, right? So say your customer was gonna buy a product from you for $17- they can choose to just fill out an offer instead, and you basically get the $17 from Trialpay even though the customer didn't pay for anything (except maybe a few bucks from the other offer)?

I'm not sure if they've changed their terms since I signed up but as far as I remember it wasn't a flat rate of $18 (although the one transaction I've had has netted me around that amount).

They said pay rate was dependant on the offer that was taken up by the consumer and what country they were from etc etc. Also you had the option to choose a "minimum" amount - The higher that minimum amount was, the less offers people had to choose from so they recommended leaving the minimum amount really low for best conversions. I just left it.

You sign up as a "merchant" as you are offering your product to customers. "Advertisers" are the people who offer their goods to the consumer in exchange for your product i.e LoveFilm, Apple, VistaPrint, etc

The criteria is pretty simple - You just need to have a product to offer. I simply uploaded a PLR E-book without changing it at all and it was accepted. I realise this isn't a detailed explanation but all the usual rules probably apply such as no adult material etc. I found it easy as pie to get my product loaded.

No other real details you need to know. You just upload your ebook on to their servers and they take care of the rest. It looks complicated but it's real easy - You can also modify the order page to look custom made for your product. Makes it look more professional.

Give it a go. I need to pull my finger out and start making more use of it really!
