Default Dragon Naturally Speaking Users- Does DNS 11 Work With Open Office For Dictating?

Hey Warriors,

I don't currently use Microsoft Office on my Desktop since I"m exclusively Open Office on this computer.

Does DNS 11 dictate in the box like it does for Word? I notice that they're always using Microsoft products and I don't have the time to spend digging through their "knowledgebase" (doesn't recognize Open Office as a keyword and brings up 3 pages of irrelevant docs).

Anyhow, if it does function well with Open Office I'll buy it in a heartbeat b/c it looks like a steal of a deal at 100 bucks.

Thanks for anyone's help or suggestions

Brad

I have open office and am waiting on my dragon nat. to come in the mail. I bought the version without mic included. I will try and report back when I get the product and start messing with it.

I did not pay $100 for it, I think Amazon had a cheaper version of 11. Only time will tell as I have never owned a copy of this software yet. I wanted to be able to stop writing articles with my two fingers typing..lol

Thanks Jim...

I think I'll pick it up from Amazon...premium edition is 130 so that's not bad.

I can generate content now so damn quickly that it's ridiculous if I have this software...so many people are requesting ebook versions so this'll help I think.

Yeah it 11.0 works with OpenOffice. I'm not sure, but Tigerdirect might be lower in price. And from what I understand the audio dictation (I forget what it's called) of the premium version isn't that great, that's why I opted for the home version. If you're not in a hurry the Nuance (I think) offers great discounts every now and then.

Yup it works fine. I'm using LibreOffice (apparently OO dev is having issues) and it works like a charm. Trust me though. Get a Yeti to go with it.

I have my dragon now and am dictating direct in wordpress. It works fine. I will do a test post here for grins with dragon...

-------------
using Dragon I'm able to post directly WordPress with a small amount of editing. Seems to work fine and I can create large posts without a lot of two finger typing. As long as you pronounce all of your words, you should not have any problems.

With the new Google algorithm change we need unique content, Dragon will help you create that content.
------------

Not bad huh? I was able to speak direct here in the forum and post my words with the software. Post was not edited so you can see how it actually works.

Brad I literally just bought this on the day before this Thanksgiving as it really is a good deal if you get the Holiday Bundle advertised on television and I have been typing so much that I am starting to show signs of carpal tunnel.

I haven't tried to use it with Open Office but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. The more you use it the more accurate it gets. So far I am really liking it although it is taking some getting used to actually talking instead of typing I can tell you that it is well worth the price though.

But as I said you can get a much better deal purchasing their Holiday Bundle which will include the Headset, Adapter, and Software and you can still get the Premium if I remember right rather than paying for them separately on Amazon. One of the rare times where it is actually a better deal not to buy it on Amazon.

Altogether as I said before I think you are going to like it.

Tim
