Hi, Can someone let me know. I have a WP site with a protected membership area. I have not created a XML sitemap. I was told that by doing so ALL pages (even protected area with videos, pdf's) would be submitted to search engines. Is this true? If people cannot get to area without login, can I create an XML sitemap and safely submit it?Thanks |

there is a plug-in XML Sitemap that you can build your sitemap - there is a section in the admin section of the plugin where you can exclude posts and pages from being included. you will need to enter the page/post id (which is different from the actual visible url).

If you use an outside crawler based sitemapper, then you will only get pages that are accessible outside login area. (e.g. A1 Sitemap Generator would need to be configured for login at password protected content) If you are using a plugin or some sort, why not try it and see the results? oDoes it includes URLs you do not want? |
