I use Windows 7, but the new Firefox looks pretty, but it's an absolute piece of garbage. Switching to Chrome..... |

OMG... I upgraded yesterday and had to find old apps to reinstall an older version... I couldn't get ff4 to do anything and everytime I tried to open it just kept spinning and saying not responding. I even tried system restore but then I couldn't get firefox to open at all. I use too many ff extensions, addons etc. to switch plus I could never get chrome to open for some reason. I finally googled reinstall firefox 2 and found I think it's oldapps.com but it gave me a list of older versions of firefox so I just picked one and finally got it working again. I upgraded from one to the next last year and had the same problems so I was kicking myself for trying it again and I won't make that mistake again as in 3 strikes you're out... LOL |

I'm not liking it much either. Many of my extensions are not compatible. Very important ones. Plus it wasn't saving my tabs. I had to make all my tabs my home page as the only way I could have them all open when I launch firefox. I wasn't saving them. Aaron |

I am still getting used to it, but I agree with kimberly and would definitely warn people to consider their add ons before upgrading. I use roboform all the time and had to upgrade to roboform 7 which is not a free upgrade to get it to work with FF4.

I like it a lot, but ran into multiple problems trying to upgrade the current installation. I had to completely delete FF, then install FF4 fresh. Now it's a beautiful thing. A few add-ons are not compatible (yet), but for me it was a good trade-off. The add-ons will catch up.

OMG. Really? I installed FF4 on my iMac after 2 hours it was released and I think it's pretty awesome. - Much faster - Much simpler - Much better looking - More secure - More efficient - Better hardware acceleration - Better for the new Web The only thing missing is addons compatibility. But I think they'll get around this in a few updates. |

I am loving the new Firefix 4. I had been using the RC version from quite some time but was happy that the stable version was finally out. Its pretty fast then Firefox 3.6.15 but chrome is still faster then firefox 4.

It's great and now with the apps thing they just launched a whole new layer has been added to the cake. Web browsing has never been better.

I'm hating FF with a passion now. I'd just got it tuned and then upgraded and a whole world of pain has opened up.

To the person that said they downgraded to Firefox 2: using a very outdated browser is just asking for malware. I would never suggest that, ever. If you're having issues with FF 4.0, it might be happening if you installed it over top of the old version. If you install FF 4.0 and your extensions don't work, you can disable the compatibility checking and most of them will work again. Do this: 1. In the address bar, type about:config and hit enter. 2. When the screen shows up, right-click in the white area and select "New" -> "Boolean" and enter the title as "extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0" with a value of "false" 3. Restart your browser and check out your add-ons. All of them should be enabled again and most of them should be working properly. There's a chance some of them won't, though. In my experience, only about 1/10 of my FF3 extensions didn't work anymore. |

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/qu...#answer-151444 FF4 also lets you group your tabs. For instance, out of curiosity about how the button worked, I labeled a group of tabs yesterday. Today, when I select the button to group tabs, I see that yesterday's group is still stored. So far, I like the upgrade. I only lost one extension and I trust that an updated version will be available soon. I can live without it until then. I left my computer on while I made a Starbucks and bank run this morning and when I returned my screen was frozen. An error message concerning Adobe was also frozen on my screen. I rebooted and was asked to update Acrobat. After doing so, I'm back to business as usual. I haven't experienced any other problems (If you don't count constantly opening another window instead of another tab, since I'm not quit used to the new layout, lol).

| I used to use Firefox until all of the addons made it run about as fast as dirt aging. I also switched to Chrome and find it faster than any I have used yet. It is simple, yet intuitive with many nice little features. I just found out that to view your history, just hold on the back button. Pretty neat and saves space. Just don't do it unless you plan on going back a page.

If it's frozen, you didn't install it properly. I would uninstall ALL versions of Firefox and try it again. It works fine on my 2 laptops, my netbook, my virtual Windows machine, my Linux installation, and my Windows Server. |

I reiterate what others have said in this thread. Uninstall all old versions, start fresh, it can and mostly will, cause problems to install over an old version. |

I wonder if there's any way to put the Home and Bookmarks buttons back on the left side. I don't like them on the far right.

Firefox 4 installed on my Win7 machine over the old version. It works for me without any issues. Some Add-Ons didn't work, but they are being updated or replaced as needed.
