Scott Blanchard's Biz Local

Hey guys, just wanted to give a quick review of Scott Blanchard's new offline consulting package for WordPress, BizLocal.

For anyone who is not familiar local offline consulting, you are basically using your skills and expertise in online marketing and applying that to opportunities in your local market. You are able to help local businesses set up effective, search engine optimized websites for those businesses as well as provide consulting services for everything from SEO to Google Adwords Campaign Management to Keywords Tracking and optimization.

What Scott has done here is pretty remarkable. I picked up the product via an early bird discount link since I already own his Adsense/Affiliate Review Package (the well known ClickBump Engine)

Its basically an entire site, with three distinct looks, packaged as a standard WordPress plugin.

What I mean by that is that you install and activate the plugin and in the 10-20 seconds it takes to do that, your site goes from none to done. Its really hard to explain how brain dead simple he's made this process. If you haven't already seen the video, that's the best way to see what I mean. BizLocal Installation Video

So, once the plugin is activated and your site is built, you can then switch between 1 of the included 3 templates that Scott includes with the BizLocal package. I chose "Seattle" for the first site I launched - Matchcoverart.com

I'll be back to add more and answer any questions you have, but I have to say, this is without a doubt one of the best products I think I've seen come around in a long time. And I"ve purchased many an IM product!

    Thanks for the review Warren!

For anyone considering purchasing, I will be releasing BizLocal in general release soon. Its currently exclusive to my existing customers as an "early bird" release at a significant discount to the expected retail pricing.

Warren has pretty much summed it all up, so there's not much more to add. If you are in the business of creating sites for local businesses, or just considering augmenting your income with local business consulting, this product is tailor made for you.

I've created it in such a way as to make it as few clicks as possible to go from a brand new WordPress install to a full blown business class site, complete with three different designs built right into the software, in a couple of clicks.

    Here's the process:

    1) Install WordPress Site
    2) Go to admin of site and click "Plugins > Add New"
    3) Select "bizlocal.zip" and click "Upload".
    4) Once uploaded, click "Activate"

That's it. Once you click Activate, the entire site is built, complete with flyout menus, default pages and posts, Newsletter/Optin forum with Aweber default hooks, Social Media Widgets, a automated Slider Widget, hours of operation and directions placeholders and much more.

All of this is done in a few seconds when you click "activate".

The plugin can then be deleted from the site. All it does it perform what would otherwise take you hundreds of hours of work to accomplish by hand. And it took me hundreds of hours to create it so I can personally attest to that fact.

Three sites in one. The client chooses which look they prefer and you can customize it with their custom logo and colors via point and click theme options already configured for you.

Hope to see you at the launch this Friday.

      Hi Scott,

just want to clarify if this is a developers license as the site says something about registering client licenses.

I'm very interested in this along with Clickbump SEO (possibly even Clickbumpengine) as it seems so simple; perfect for outsourcing! But I'd prefer development license...please let me know!

      Thanks!

    Hi:

How mobile friendly is the site?

I realize that you can use stuff like WP Touch, etc.

The problem with them is that once on the phone the sites are neither easy to navigate or read.

Hi spiderhouse. I do offer a developer's license with ClickBump Engine. With BizLocal, the license is different to reflect a different market. You pay a single license to install the application on your demo server and as many sites as you own.

Then, when you make a sale to a client, and include BizLocal and/or ClickBump SEO! as part of the deal, you are essentially making an affiliate sale, and you just pay me a small license transfer fee at that time ($17-27 depending on whether SEO! is installed).

You can read more about that here > clickbump.com/bizlocal

Hi Charles, BizLocal is designed/developed using web standards based design (semantic xhtml for structure and "object oriented" css for presentation).

This is the key to how well SEO'd the sites are out of the box and allows it to be super fast on the desktop and mobile friendly at the same time.

    Yes, this thing is awesome...

I've been building websites for clients, "renting" sites to local businesses, and selling ad space to local businesses for a while now.

Scott's new BizLocal offline theme package is great. I have finally found something that has filled the void I've had for years created by the need for a simple, functional, professional-looking, easy-to-work-with, impressive WP theme to use for offline business sites.

When I first checked out the preview a few months back, I knew I had to have it. I must have emailed Scott 10 times every few days asking when it was going to be released. I picked it up on the first day of the early bird special for current Clickbump members, and have loved it since.

For those of you who saw my thread here on finding a good local directory theme, here's what happened. I never did end up with a good local directory that fit my liking, after trying quite a few. I hired a programmer to mold and shape GeoPlaces as much as possible to fit my needs and wants but it just couldn't be done while maintaining the theme's functionality. Consequently, I ended up changing to a "rent-the-site" type business model where the client basically gets to put their contact info up on the homepage, and for that I'm using Scott Blanchard's new BizLocal theme package. It looks and works great. Check it out.

Also, for help with finding good localized keywords to rank for that the Google Adwords Keyword Tool is actually hiding from you, I'd highly recommend checking out Keyword Sniper Pro 2.0 from Jack Duncan. It has been invaluable for me. I wrote a personal review of it which you can find in my sig.

I can't praise these tools enough. Clickbump Engine, BizLocal, and KSP have literally changed my business, my income, and my life forever.

Hi Salustio, sorry for the late reply. BizLocal is multi-lingual. All of the content and menus on the public side of the site use replacement strings that you are able to define in theme options.

Hope that helps! Looking forward to having you on board!

Scott looks like a great plugin.

I don't know if it's possible but if it also generated a mobile version at the same time it would be a grand slam. By mobil version, I mean a smaller simpler version, with just the vital information that is much more readable and useful than a full website squeezed into a small display.

Hi All, sorry I missed this thread for a while. I'm pretty active on WF but just lost track of this one.

BizLocal is one of my most successful projects to date. By nature of the fact that its HTML5 compliant with pure CSS used for the look and feel, its mobile friendly right out of the box.

However, I do understand that "mobile friendly" is a bit different than a "mobile version". I'm working on some enhancements that will include this option. All current owners will get the upgrade at no cost once its ready.

Thanks for the suggestions and please keep em coming. I'll bookmark this review thread to stay more on top of it for responses
