WP Sales Engine vs RAP vs Profits Theme vs OptimizePress vs x??

I am putting together/relaunching two sites. One is a single ebook, the other is an ebook with optional membership site. I intend price the ebook at around $40 - but if people take the membership trail they get the book + trail for $5 and then a $40 ish rebill each month.

Both products will have video + text sales letters. Previously I've used Wordpress + Post Affiliate Pro. I don't like PAP much and I've largely neglected proper tracking/split testing and have no experience of putting together sales funnels. I want to start implementing these but will be running the products on 'evergreen' launches.

The RAP pages I've seen don't look pretty. So if I used RAP, I'd be using it only for the back end. If I used it, I'd need to use it with OptimizePress or similar. But how well does RAP's sales funnels and split testing stuff work with non-rap pages? Am I losing RAP functionality by using something else for the front end pages. Should I be considering something other than RAP.

I'd also be tempted to use RAP with WP Sales Engine. That seems to duplicate some of the RAP functionality - but also has some of its own. I'd be interested in what people know about WP Sales Engine generally.

The other thing I'm after is the requirement to have somoene enter their email address/name on the add to to cart section... so sales that are abandoned can be followed up on. I figure this can be done with anything - but if this is a built in feature anywhere that is good.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I use wp sales engine for some of my sites. It looks pretty, but I think optimize press look more pretty than wp sales engine... I think sales engine n optimize press do almost the same thing.

The look, the frontend of a script, be it RAP or WP should NOT determine what you are using. That's the easiest to change - just a bit of CSS knowledge.

As you can make or customize a theme for WP, the same way you can have your own templates in RAP. I know because I did both.

Always look for functionality not for the "cute" BS... If you have a convincing, excellent sales copy - in about a week nobody will remember the design of your salespage, only the coll content that made them to buy.

You may also want to consider DAP, Digital Access Pass for your membership and sales funnel. Works with any WP theme or you can use it with html sites.

I use it and love it.

Christopher - May I ask what is was specifically that caused you to go with Profits Theme? Also - are you using any other scripts with it? Or just Clickbank?

Istvan - Yes, I broadly agree. My CSS is a bit out of shape though - so having an easy way to produce a nice looking site is more important than it should be. It's something I need to work on. I suppose I'm really raising the question because some of these scripts have both backend and front end functionality. Potentially it might be the case for example that I use RAP + WPSales Engine even though both include statistics. Out of interest, what would be your choice knowing what you do of my intentions?

    Thanks to all!

Definitely, I wouldn't try to create a "mule" by crossing two scripts that have overlapping functionalities :p

Not familiar with the WP Sales Engine. Familiar with RAP but never really saw the need to use it together with WP. Lately I was playing with ProfitsTheme, seems to be a nice tool if someone is stuck with WP: has squeeze, sales, launch & whatever Pages + a membership feature.

For selling one book (if there is nothing else in the funnel) - even something simple like the $7script would do - just need to secure the DL page/link.

For membership sites, at this moment I say pick the simplest script/method. Have tried a few very expensive and highly praised membership scripts just to figure out they all suck...

I decided to go with ProfitsTheme simply because after reviewing their introduction videos, I liked the ProfitsTheme controls, layout, functionality, etc. better than I liked on OptimizePress... However, It was a difficult decision, they both look great!

I'm also looking at this: Product Launch Wordpress Theme

It looks quite comprehensive - I am correct in thinking that optimize press doesn't have split testing? I'm starting to think that that is an essential for me.

I'm using Optimize Press and very happy. I'm not a big fan of RAP. What about new WP InstantPay. Is it any good?

Margo - WP instant pay looks really promising. I'm going to have to look into that further. The pages says that they are working on recurring payaments. I wonder how long that is going to take. What (if anything) do yo uuse for you tracking and stats with your optimizepress setup?

Dexx: Yes that looks like a good combo. Optimizepress and RAP both crreate sales funnels right? Are you just using RAP for the affiliate system + tracking with the optimize press funnels?

    cheers

They're just web pages. They can look however you want. Most people just don't bother to change them very much.

My preference is for OptimizePress and DAP. OptimizePress is great for the sales/squeeze pages and DAP is great for the membership, secure downloads, autoresponder and affiliate side of the equation.

You cant go wrong with OptimizePress. A lot of marketers are using it and when you put it with Wishlist Memeber or DAP you can have a great membership solution. I have used RAP with OptimizePress and have had no problems.

As far as RAP pages looking "pretty"...get a good designer and they'll look precisely how you want them to.

    For me, I choose RAP.

Thanks for all the replies. I really don't want to be forking out for a designer. I realise if I get a designer I can make it look however I want - but when there are already good looking solutions it seems daft to reinvent the wheel.

Perhaps OptimizePress + DAP is the way to go. I've been looking over DAP tonight and it is quite impressive. Good affiliate stuff and seems to be being very activly developed. Shame about the lack of instant payments though (although it seems the paypal adaptive payments that WP Instant Pay offers are better for refunds). The other thing is that DAP doesn't seem to include any split testing technology - but I suppose if I'm using the wordpress platform for the pages then there are split test plugins that can take that role.

Other than the instant payment and the split testing. Am I missing anything significant from RAP if I went with the OP + DAP solution?

Hi Mike, That's why I mentioned DAP. I thought if you checked it out it might fit your needs. I use DAP with the Headway Theme so I don't know anything about OptimizePress. But I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for you.

I personally like WP_salesengine. OP is good, but the only thing I don't like is the width... far too wide. The other template I'd recommend is Robert Planks wordpress-letter. You've probably seen the plain white templates floating around - combined with a nice clean header it looks very good.

Funnily enough the wdith of OptimizePress is also something I've thought was a bit 'too' wide. I was hoping that would be something not too difficult to change without 'breaking' the theme and with it the convenience it provides.

I think I'm going to go for OP+DAP+Wordpress Split test plugins+Google analytics for stats. I'm going to spend the bank holiday here in the UK milling it over and doing some more reading and then the hard work starts

I saw in another thread that WP Sales Engine is up to (at least) version 2 - but I've not been able to see exactly what version 2 adds? Can anyone chime in on that?

Thanks for all the help here guys

I checked with customer support, and they said WP Instantpay cannot allow 100% commission be set for affiliates.

      I wish that is possible...

So many options, I almost have pieced it all together. :0 Which one has the best split testing checking? If your looking at FusionHQ, that is only open certain times of the year, but has great split testing techonlogy.

WPSales Engine rocks because you can use it on Pages, on your current theme. ONly one Theme per WPsite, so you have to use OPtimizePress or WPProfits theme only.

Any good feedback on WPSales engine?
