    Hey Britt,

Flipping sites for a quick profit isn't to difficult if you know how. The best way to get started is to create a site yourself. Just follow these steps:

    1. Research your niche. For example, if you decide to create a site around "Snowboarding" find out some hot keywords in that industry that are getting some decent traffic.
    2. Purchase a domain using a hot keyword. For example, cheap-burton-snowboards.com
    3. Use wordpress as your content management tool and find a cool theme.
    4. Go to ezinearticles and look for articles that are based around your hot keyword and re-write them in your own words. Do this with 10-15 articles. If you hate writting, than you could always hire another warrior to write some articles for you.
    5. I would also sign up as an ebay affiliate and direct your audience to cheap burton snowboards.
    6. Try to SEO your blog by using tags on each post.
    7. You could also use adwords and add banners to your blog for extra income.
    8. Do some quick site promotion by submitting your site to social bookmarking sites such as digg.com and Technorati.
    9. Now that you have your blog set up, sell it over at Sitepoint.com as Kim suggested above. When you create your listing, make sure you describe the site as best as you can. Talk about what kind of income generators are on the site, how many articles it has, that it is powered by wordpress and that anyone can maintain it very easily.
    10. Rinse and repeat.
Hopefully this gives you a bit of a better idea of how and where to get started.

    Mike

I've bought just about all the WSO's available on site flipping, including the ones mentioned in this thread, and they are all pretty good in terms of content.

Most of them are geared towards flipping sites on Sitepoint, and with good reason.

However, there is some money to be made flipping sites on ebay as well.

SweetJane has a very good step by step guide you that may be interested in and pmore's guide is geared to Ebay as well.

      Hope that helps.

      Thanks,

      Leron

Here is my take on site flipping. You are probably only going to make good money selling a site that can prove income (from Adsense or an affiliate product). I think many of the guides completely overestimate the current money potential if you are not selling a proven site. There probably was good money to be made when the concept first started. But now there are so many programs to build websites so easily and cost efficiently, there is no need to buy some starter website that has no traffic or sales for $300 when a person can make a site themselves for virtually nothing. Just my two cents.

Nixon71, I guess you're right about proven income, although some site flippers say it isn't necessary. I've only tryed to sell two sites - the one new build with a potential in French on eBay.fr - no bids. The other I wrote about to my list and to a few people that has been interested in buying my sites before. It's a Danish site that brings in between 800-1000 usd each month, but nobody could come up with the kind of money, I wanted. So now I just leave it there to give me income each month ;-) It wasn't build for the purpose of site flipping.

How much income per month will be enough to sell a site?

There are so many options when it comes to getting involved with marketing on the internet, it is hard to know which direction to go sometimes. From the beginning I will admit that I have not tried any part in site flipping. I have looked at it a little and I have reviewed many sites for sale (on Sitepoint and others) from the objective of possibly purchasing some.

From my perspective, I wonder how in the world you can make any serious money selling sites that you develop!!! I see sites selling all the time for under $100. There are "established" web sites that sell for under $500. To get a site established takes some work (site design, site content, page ranking, links, etc, etc, etc)

It seems to me that you would have to crank out a lot of sites to produce any kind of REAL income. And then, none of it is residual. You have to do keep doing it or your income goes away.

This is not the business model I would choose.

Site flipping doesn't only entail making sites and selling them. You can also buy sites that are making revenue improve them and sell them for a large profit. I do encourage you to learn more about it Britt I was going to write an ebook on this but decided maybe a general site on the subject would be better.

You'll have to decide what you are choosing first. Are you going to build websites from scratch, and put them up for sale? Are you going to buy already established websites and keep them for a good amount of time, work on it and sell it for good profits.

I'd summarize the basic information you need to do your first Website Flip.

    1) Pick up a niche. Go after something in demand, and a profitable aspect for the potential buyer. Dating, Relationships, SEO etc do quite well.

    2) Buy a domain, and get hosting. These will cost you under $10. Setup a wordpress blog, most hosts offer one-click installation.

    3) Choose a Wordpress theme out of the thousands over there. Customize it to your own needs, and niche. For an example, an environment blog goes good with green theme etc.

Add Plugins which are required, such as the All in one SEO plugin, Sitemap generator etc. This varies niche to niche.

    4) Hire a freelancer article writer, and get 8-10 articles of about 350-400 words. This should not cost more than $40. Copy/ Paste those articles in the blog, you should insert some affiliate links over here.

    5) Go to Affiliate networks, pick a product that pays good and review it on the blog. Promote it using a separate sales page or something.

    6) Submit the website to some directories and social bookmarking websites. You may use softwares to do that, or hire someone.

    7) Head over to Sitepoint and list the website. Make sure you have a catchy heading and describe exactly Why you think people should buy your website. List the BIN at something like $197, $247 etc. Works better because people perceive it as much less than $200, $250 etc.

Now, use Digitalpoint to promote your listing. You cannot have an auction at another place whilst running one at Sitepoint, but you can definitely promote it.

One thing very important is being honest with yourself. Website Flipping is not the easy and get rich quick way, far from that. You have to deliver value if you have to sell websites. If you observe, many people are trying to sell complete junk, and the fact is that they won't ever sell.

I wish you all the luck to get started with website flipping. Ask on forums whenever you need help with Site flipping. I'm sure there will be people helping out. The best way is to learn yourself.

Wow, I wasn't expecting all that kind of great responses - thanks Swastik for this great step-by-step guide! It's awesome!

Yes, I know it's work, but it sounds like fun work, and I don't mind working. I also like to create new sites from new ideas, so I will try site flipping and see if this really is something for me, which I guess it is.

You don't really need a course in flipping websites the way most describe it in the books. It is fairly easy. Most do use Sitepoint. There is a lot of free information in the WF forums that will tell you exactly how to do it. For most flipping websites is the wrong name. Most just build a website and try to sell it on Sitepoint.

For a basic site, build a Wordpress site. Very easy to do today. Use a nice theme. Lot's of free ones. Do a Google search on free themes.

Add a few plugins: seo, privacy page, maybe an ebay store plugin if you want.
Create original content. Can use plr but most want original content.
Many use a web host like a hostgator reseller account and then offer free hosting. I usually offer only 1 month free hosting. I then charge a monthly fee. I give a small discount for a 3 month hosting package or a 6 month hosting package. I have found I still make money not offering free hosting for a year like many do.

Go to Sitepoint and create an account. Go to the marketplace and buy credits. For a new site in the start-up section it will cost 10 credits @ $1 per credit for a total of $10.
For an established site it costs 20 credits.
List for up to 30 days. Answer sometimes lots of questions.

In the start-up section a site like this will sell for anywhere between $50 to $150. Occasionally you might get $200. But your sales will hover around $50 to $100. Still for extra money this is an ok model. Will you get rich. No. Will you make a living. Probably not. Will you make some extra cash. Yes.

This is basically what many of the e-books tell you what to do. Some claim you can make tens of thousands a month. You might, but not in the start-up area doing this model that many advocate. If you can think as many say "outside the box" and come up with something a little different then your competitors you will do much better.

      Good luck.

Thanks for asking this question, as this is something I have been wondering about for a long time. Although, since I am a writer, it would not be worth my time to write 10 unique articles and set up a website for only a $50 profit, since I could easily sell just my articles for that amount, so why waste more time?

      I'm sorry for interrupting but..

When they say that you'll get $50 profit, they mean starting flips. I have seen many people, and I myself, make easy $300-400 on every flip. When you've sold a few "quality" websites, you can always ask the previous buyers if they are interested. It saves lots of time + listing costs.

Being an article writer gives you that extra edge. You can probably churn out better articles than *someone else* would, and you don't have to pay. Certainly you spend some time writing.

If you talk about profits, in your case, you need a domain and a hosting, which is all under $8. Then it's your wish to go for a paid or free theme, and the design customization cost. After it, you can easily make hundreds of dollars in profit.

So many site flipping ebook there. Do they actually do flipping. Or just making quick cash from selling ebook.

From my experience, site flipping takes hardwork and steep learning.
Two big market place for selling your site is ebay and sitepoint.

Selling on ebay for bargain price. I've seen a very low quality of site sold for $50 over and over. Figured out that the key is on sales page. I read their sales page throughly. In short, just bullshit tight together. Photoshop made up statistics and full 2-3 pages over-promise.

Another sample is selling startup content site. At sitepoint, such sites, sold around $250-$500 on average. Can be more if i put more value, but less likely.

A site with excellent design and unique contents sold easily. The key here is finding freelancers to outsource the works. If you can find quality worker with fee less than $5 per hour, this can be profitable business.

It takes much more work than those ebook promises. Again, based on my personal experience. I agree with KBunn.
