Ecommerce Plugin/Software for Wordpress?

Hi guys

We are about to take on a client who requires a e-commerce website.

I am just wondering from experience what everyone recommends Wordpress wise when it comes to ecommerce. I have looked at Ecommerce Software & Shopping Cart Software Solutions by BigCommerce and was wondering if anyone has used it or recommend anything else?

Magento wouldn't be required for this project as there website is not to be there main project just something on the side so look forward to hearing your recommendations!

I understand some payment processors might not accept a site with wordpress and the secure check out page on the same server? do to security cracks in wordpress. I don't recall all the details, but you might consult the processing/shopping cart people before finalizing the plans.

    Hi Ashley,

We use BigCommerce ourselves and have moved many of our clients over to it. They love it.

It has everything you could want to setup your store. We found the other options on open source platforms did not have everything built in and only half served our needs.

    Overall very happy with BigCommerce.

    Goodluck!

I been using the paid WP-eStore from Tips&Tricks-HQ and the free version of WP-eCommerce from GetShopped.

Both have their +/- points but I do favor the WP-eStore. There is also an affiliate plugin that works with the WP-eStore plugin.

If you want the site based on WordPress then I use the Ecwid shopping cart solution, and reviewed it here:

But if the site is primarily an eCommerce site then WordPress is probably not the best place to start - you'd be better off taking a look at PrestaShop, which is designed from the ground up as an eCommerce application.

    Cheers,

    Martin.
