Iphone 4 vs. Droid X vs. Samsung Droid Charge (best for IM)

Hey guys, I'm finally upgrading to a decent smart phone in hopes of locking in my unlimited data rate before verizon decides to do tier rates. Does anyone have any experience with these phones for general purposes? Does anyone rely heavily on one of these phones for IM purposes? I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible before I go fork out 200-300 on a new phone.

(If this needs to be posted in a different category, mods feel free to do so, just wasn't sure what the best category was)

I have a Droid 2 and have been really happy with what it can do. I think you'll find that you'll be happy with any of the above phones and their capabilities.

I would recommend getting a 4G phone though. While 4G isn't available everyone, it's still expanding and who knows where it will be available a year or two from now. If you're deadset on the iPhone, wait til iPhone 5.

From the above, I'd recommend the Droid Charge.

iPhone 5 won't be out for another year... the one being released in a few months is just an updated iPhone4.... just like the ol' 3G --> 3GS. Apple's been slacking. They may even introduce a cheaper less features version for other markets.

      I still have my jb'd 3GS.

I'm all smart-phoned out, next phone I get, I'm going back to a basic flip...or an 80's brick.

Right now I have the Iphone , which can do anything you need. Good Luck!

I have had a Droid x since they came out and I love it honestly wouldn't trade it for anything else. I use it for just about everything even recording Vlogs.

It depends on personal preference, they all pretty much have the same apps and functionality when it comes down to it. I have only ever had an Iphone and I haven't had any problems with it, I can handle all of my IM stuff just fine.

I feel like the charge might be my best bang for my buck with the 4G capability to last me the whole 2 years (lets hope). It sucks getting sucked into these 2 year contracts when new things come out every 4-6 months that are that much better.

I have an iPhone 4 and love it. I also had an iPhone 3 and 3GS as well, so maybe I'm some kind of addict

I know what you mean about getting stuck with a 2 year contract though. I remember when 12 months contract were the norm but they've definitely got longer.

Here in the UK, I have an insurance policy on my phone and pay £2.00 per month so I can come out of my contract after 13 months, instead of the full 2 years.
