Anyone Switched From Clickbank To Rapbank or PDC? Results?

Hi Warriors.

I have some upcoming products to list and am considering using one of the above alternatives.

Obviously CB has the bigger marketplace and more people looking for products there.

So I am wondering if anyone has done any comparison testing or jumped ship that can share results?

Thanks

I can't advise on CB vs either.. but, 2 things to consider.

I use PDC, and I'm not happy with it at all. Their tracking is totally screwed up and support is pretty bad.

RapBank.. I LOVE the concept of Instant Paypal Commissions, but I also think it's one of the things that's really hurting Internet marketers in the Paypal war.

I can understand where Paypal is coming from there... it's a lot of risk for them to carry, and with instant commissions, if either vendor or affiliate clears out the Paypal account and it's the other's commission to refund in the event of a payment.. Paypal finds itself in the middle of an affiliate vendor stand-off..

My own plan is a self managed affiliate program. But that's just me.

...and you base that on what, exactly?

Instant transfer of funds is what Paypal does, and they've NEVER had an issue with payment of affiliate commissions as long as the sale does not create certain legal issues (MLM, Ponzi schemes, etc.). It is certainly wise to read the TOS for any service that you might use.

In fact, Paypal has been used to pay affiliates for at least the past nine years (I know, because I've been doing it since 2002).

The "instant commission" model has been in use by many merchants for well over 4 years now, and there are more and more instant commission solutions being created every day. All of those (to my knowledge) use Paypal as a payment processor.

Recent issues that some Internet Marketers have had with Paypal, have had NOTHING to do with the instant commissions business model.

In fact, the more recent IM/Paypal issues that we've heard of, were NOT using instant commissions, at all. Maybe if they were, they wouldn't have so much money tied up (some percentage of it would have already been paid to their affiliates - instantly!)

There is NO affiliate/vendor stand-off with RAP Bank, nor with any of the merchants who list their products there. Paypal is not even aware if their "seller" is the merchant, or just an affiliate. Nor do they care.

      They are a payment processor.

To them, there is a sender and a receiver of funds. It might just be me, sending money to my daughter's account.

If there is any sort of dispute, they will determine if there was an exchange of tangible goods (or not), determine if there was any sort of guarantee for the goods sold, and resolve the dispute one way or another.

Paypal sees one buyer and one seller on each payment transaction. If there is a dispute lodged, and a refund is requested, EITHER the merchant or the affiliate is the seller, and Paypal (if necessary) will collect the refund from that party.

It is best, of course, if the seller can resolve any refund request, without the buyer having to resort to filing a resolution request, but the buyer isn't required to follow your recommended procedure for requesting a refund. They can file a Paypal dispute, without first having requested a refund directly from the seller.

Paypal does have policies to determine how those are resolved, and if an affiliate was the "seller", Paypal is not even aware that they were just acting as an agent of a merchant. They are simply the entity who received the funds in the financial transaction, and therefore, the person from whom the funds will be collected, should the dispute be resolved in favor of the buyer.

    Hey Tim,

Highly recommend sticking with Clickbank. There is simply no competition as far as the number of affiliates go. As a product owner, your ability to attract and keep affiliates is everything...and there's no network that has as many affiliates as CB. As much as we hate them sometimes, they're the best. :-)

This is true. It's typical for even excellent products on Clickbank to have 10-15% refund rates simply because people realize that the 60 Day Guarantee lets you download something and then ask for a refund 30 seconds later. It happens.

A great way around this is to include some kind of shipped media with your Clickbank product (i.e. they download the course now, but you also ship them a DVD from Kunaki). This REALLY cuts down on refund rates because Clickbank makes them mail back the DVD, and most people can't be bothered to take the time.

Including some kind shipped media with your product will cut refunds to 1% or so, if the product is good.
