Does 1and1 have a good hosting plan?

1and1 is offering a special of 12 months off with a 24 month purchase. they also offer 2 free domains on top of that. any advice?

    Many people use namecheap.com as their registrar. I also use them and name.com.
    Happy with both.

    Do a search for reliable and affordable webhosts... there are even comparison sites; and pick the one that fits your needs.

    Are you kidding stay away ... I just ran away from those guy few years back was luck to find webhost.uk.net they are 100 times better than 1and1.

      Well, I've been with them for 6 years, I've spent 2 years trying to get away from them. You've never had a problem with them, I've never had a single good moment with them. I was on the phone yesterday to get an answer to a question that should have taken about 30 seconds to answer. It took 23 minutes in the end and the "customer service" person, if it could possibly be called that, hung up the phone because he couldn't find the answer.

      I have now got just one domain and a hosting package with them and I'm still trying to get away. Everything else I have with 2 other hosting companies (including Hostgator) and domains with Namecheap.

      1and1 are without question the biggest mistake I've made in nearly 8 years of IM.

      If you want to see a good hosting review site check this out and have a look at 1and1's reviews, I sure wish I had when I started out.

    yup. Domains and webhosting in the same company is a no-no, you are walking on thin ice. Anyways, I read a lot of horror stories on 1and1 and also some good ones. But the horror ones outweighed the good ones. Thats why I never tried them. Hostgator is good, I tried them once before, and they were OK.

    1and1 are THE WORST hosting company I have EVER come across. Avoid.

    I advise using Hostgator for hosting.

    Google 1and1 reviews and you'll see waves and waves of customers bad experiences with them.
