Wordpress Review Theme by Colleen Slater

How many people here have used the Wordpress review theme by Colleen Slater? I know Jan Roos uses it. I looked at her site and it seems like she will include several niches already done for you with about three items already reviewed. Kind of like Dan brocks deadbeat millionaire (which i could not get to work) it sounds like a great deal. just curious if anyone has any experience with her pre made review themes?

I am also curious about another aspect of it. I already have quite a few amazon sites that i am using dreamweaver2010 theme. they look good but I think the Wordpress Review Theme would look even better. My question is can i simply install the Wordpreee review theme onto a site that i already have built? If I get the entire package with 16 niches, does it come with a 17th generic niche theme i can use on my sites i already have built?

Lastly, I notice there is a spot at the checkout for a discount code. How often is there a coupon available for these? I am not in the market to buy it this second but probably am going to be pretty serious about it within a couple months.

Thanks in advance

P.S.
Colleen or Jan, if you see this and feel inclined to leave your input that would be great as well.

Thanks again

No you can't take a WordPress theme and have it work with a Dreamweaver theme if that is what your asking. You'd have to do some conversion to make your current themes work with WordPress.

I guess maybe I wasnt being very clear. I do not intend to keep using dreamweaver if i get wordpress review theme. I would rather use Wordpress review theme INSTEAD. however it looks like all 16 of the wordpress review themes all have a specific niche already built into them. Say, for instance i have a site on wakeboards ( i do not, its just an example) Could I install some generic form of wordpress review theme over my already made site and keep all my information ( i will obviously lose any info directly affiliated with the dreamweaver theme) but otherwise keep all my txt?

To customize Colleen's theme, you just need to edit the header image. That's about it. Pick a color you like, buy it alone and change the header on a site-by-site basis.

As for your dreamweaver theme. They cannot coexist on the same site. You need to pick one or the other. Let me know if you need specific steps to implement. You will need redirects to change page locations and keep SEO.

Yes, as I said earlier, I do not plant to or want to use both at the same time. I want to change from dreamweaver TO wordpress review theme

Thank you for the input though. it is very much appreciated

The Wordpress Review theme requires you to enter data into several custom fields and this will be time consuming for you to undertake if you have lots of posts.

You can install any Wordpress theme on to any wordpress site BUT you will need to undertake a varying degree of work to format the new theme.

I personally prefer to use a mixture of themes and, if your existing sites are converting well, then I really would not go through all the hassle of changing them over. It's not about what theme you like, but what persuades the customer to click through and make the purchase.

Thank you. This is what I was wanting to know. Thankfully, I do not have a ton of posts on my sites yet so although it may take a while, it sounds like it may be worth it to switch over as I do not feel my dreamweaver sites are converting that well.

I believe they look extremely clean and professional and I like them a lot. But its exactly like what you said. Its not about what you like. its about what makes conversions!

I merely have the 2 free review themes that I got when I bought Colleen's WSO. It's taken me absolutely ages to get the featured content working properly.

Now I need to change the header graphic from the one it comes with (Cookware and Kitchen stuff) to the one I have had done for the niche I'm in. (I've done normal WP header graphic changes before but I can't see where to do it on this review theme)

Could anyone tell me how to upload the new graphic into the header as I can't see how to do it? I'd really appreciate some help.

I have been using the WP Review theme for a couple of months now, and I am very happy with it. There is a step-by-step .pdf that is included that tells you exactly how to do everything from setting up the button links to customzing the featured content plug-in.

If you set up a site from scratch following the Wordpress Review Theme User Guide lesson by lesson, then you will quickly learn this theme and won't need the instructions anymore. If you have any problems, Colleen has a site for theme users with a HelpDesk, and she is very responsive.

I do agree with one of the respondents above in that you shouldn't spend too much time switching between themes or searching for just the right theme. Once you pick a good theme, learn it, and then focus on content, on-page SEO, and backlinking/traffic generation.

@Ditso: To Change the Header - From Page 21 of the User Guide:

Step 12: Changing the Header Banner.
Click Here To Watch The Video Tutorial About Changing The Header
        Banner
        1. To change the header to one of the included banner images,
        simply upload the desired header
from the “masterimages” folder included with your theme to
the following folder (or whatever your folder path is for the images folder on the review theme):
        http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/wpcontent/
        themes/wordpressreviewtheme/images/
        2.
If you wish to upload your own header graphic, ensure
that the image is 961 pixels wide by 165
        pixels high
. The header must be named header.jpg. If you
wish to change the height dimensions of the header, you
can do so by altering the #banner style in the
        style.css

        file.

        Best,
        Anna

did you just get the four niche package or the full 16 niche package?

I just got the most basic package - which I think is the 4 niche package. I create Amazon product review sites, so I wasn't interested in the pre-built themes (work from home, stocks, etc.). I just used one of the themes and then customized it to my products (my own header, video, featured content plug-in, etc.).

The first time, I really do recommend using the user's guide and going step by step. If you follow that on one or two sites, you will learn it and never have to refer to user's guide again.

The only hiccup I had was in integrating my autoresponder code into the opt-in box. But that wasn't because of this theme. I hate autoresponder code and have had very little experience with it, so it is still frustrating to me. That being said, I got it set up within a couple of hours.

I use her themes for my Jan Roos style sites, and they're great! Not the best looking things in the world, but they are super easy to set up and outsource, and they convert well. They're also great for SEO.

I'd recommend using these themes at first, and then maybe converting your top selling sites to more sophisticated themes with homepages, etc.

      Good luck!
