Different auto-responder services

I had a search but didn't find anything.

I am looking for a free auto responder service.. for some reason freeautobot won't load for me

I guess you probably can't get a free one with unlimited lead potential, but I'm looking for the best deals?

It's for a word press blog.

I found this.... but I don't know how many subscribers it allows.. seems a bit fishy.. http://www.listwire.com/index.php

Depending on what you doing with the autoreponder, you could try mailchimp. Have sent you a PM too.

    1000 subs isn't bad. Better than 10!

  • I wouldn't mess around with free autoresponders. There's a reason people stick to the "big boys." If you want to hit the inbox, you've got to go with a trusted company.

If money's tight at the moment, you can grab coupons off of retailmenot for Aweber for your first month for $1.

ConstantContact has a 60 day free trial period.

    I'm not sure about GetResponse.

Either of those first two solutions (Aweber or ConstantContact) will give you professional service and you'll hit inboxes, get great metrics, etc.

Since you are using a wordpress set up .. go to plug ins and search autoresponders .. there is a couple of good ones there and .. you control everything.

Used to be people suggested going with the bigger boys when choosing an AR but I have found open rates from my own servers are usually better than from any of the AR I have used and I have used most of them.

Just remember that the default send rate for most hosting is 500 per hour so you will need to go in the back office and change that.

      I'd suggest avoiding MailChimp.

This thread, and this thread, and this thread will explain why.

Also, if you do any affiliate marketing (or any of the many other things they don't like), even if you don't do it/them at Mailchimp, you can still lose your account and your list(s) there, as explained here.

In fact, if you'll excuse the observation, I'd strongly suggest avoiding a "free" autoresponder altogether, for all the reasons explained here.

Yes I did that initially but there were too many, so came for warrior advice.

New to all of this but wondering if there is a way to create two different popups based on New visitor vs current subscriber. Which autoresponder works best for this? and/or any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

      There is.

These things typically work on a cookie-based system for differentiating new/returning visitors, just like pop-ups that display only on people's first visits to a site.

It's not about "which autoresponder" the submission goes to. I think you could do it with any of them. It's about the programming of the page itself.

Way beyond me - others who understand technical stuff will perhaps reply.

I use Aweber - simply because I don't want to be marked as spam.

Maybe there are other cheaper or even free AR that are not spam (yet) but I would be very careful about it - if you wish your list and your business to survive and continue in the future.

I just tested my listwire thing to see if it was working.. and well. I can see why it's free.

I guess I'm backed into a corner.. either pay for a list or don't have one. Since I don't have any money, and I need to know if my site works, I can't have one.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

Care to explain the "eek" face emoticon? I'm the owner of List Wire, and the system hasn't had a hiccup in almost a year...
