Look at what you want to do specifically. Do you need detailed stats? Fancy HTML newsletters, something more basic? Let your needs dictate your choice, not price. That said, I use Imnica Mail (Imnica Mail - Email Marketing Service - Email Marketing Solved) which let's you get started for free with 1k subscribers. The interface is easy to learn and they have a TON of newly created training videos. So if you're on a budget then I highly recommend them. Here's the price plans:

There is a free autoresponder service, called Listwire.com, that has a good reputation out there.
However if you plan to do this big style, i would stick to Aweber.com, or Getresponse.com, because you want to be sure everything is working the way you want it to.
Aweber have a 1$ trial for a months, and is the service I use, and I am very happy with it

When I first started to build a list, a few years back, I didn't know who to use for my autoresponder service. I tried some free/cheap ones at first (trying to sell their service) but these did not work out well for me. Then with a little more knowledge about what features I needed and wanted, I signed on with Get Response, and it was alright, but started to notice that most of my marketing peers were recommending AWeber. So I finally settled with them. Been using AWeber for a couple of years, and very pleased. Hope this helps.

Aweber is the best that's out there. If you're serious about this part of your site development, there's no alternative.
