A Decent Graphics Course anyone

My partner who did do some graphic design years ago said she would like to learn how to put banners, ebook covers and twitter backgrounds together.

I would like her to learn this as well. It would cut the bill on outsourcing.

I thought I would be able to find a course or ebook on here, but for the life of me can't find one.

She does have a copy of Photoshop Elements.

Any guidance would be appreciated

Do a search on the phrase:

    photoshop elements tutorials

Turns up a bunch of them. You can probably find a ton of basic and advanced graphic design tutorials that aren't program specific, too, if you look.

She said the youtube type tutorials have not been that helpful.

    I will keep looking though.

It may help to get very specific with the terms, if you haven't. For example:

    twitter background tutorial

... turns up a lot of helpful info.

Outsource it. If you or your partner have little or no graphic design experience I can guarantee that a graphic designer will create visual content that will out pull something you can put together on your own.

Your missing the point Gary. I outsource all my graphics right now. However my partner would like to learn how to do some simple ecovers and Twitter backgrounds.

I am all for outsourcing but I also like to encourage building a bigger knowledge base as well.

Doot that looks like an interesting site.

Here's 2 tutorial sites I used to go to when I first began Graphic/Digital Design. Photoshop Tutorials, Flash Tutorials and More! P2L Tutorial Search and Good-Tutorials - Newest Tutorials

Those sites have thousands of tutorials on different subjects but the ones I used were the Photoshop tutorials. Perhaps your partner could download the 30 day trial version and see if she prefers that than Elements.

Your fitness site may need graphics. But for the most part, you may not need them.

I've studied graphics for years, and can only make them decent.

You'll be wasting a lot of time, trust me.

The most important graphic is the picture of you, to burn an image of
who you are and what you're about into the mind of your visitors.

The mind of your visitors is the most valuable piece of real-estate. Your time will be better spent on headlines.

I have to disagree David. If we all thought that there would never be any new designers, copywriters etc. Also in this case most of the graphics will be for covers for downloadable products and a decent cover converts far better.

I do appreciate that it takes time to master some skills and not have it look like a school kid did the job, but with determination and interest I am sure the skills will be mastered.
    Learning can be fun.
