Which WSO for Google Places?

Can anybody recommend the best WSO for Google Places ranking?

Background: I need to rank a poorly optimized business website in Google Places. Due to artistic reasons and plain old ignorance, the website owner is resistant to making necessary on page SEO changes I have requested and doesn't want to take the trouble or spend the money to backlink.

The website really doesn't give me much to work with and that's the way it just is for now. I - should add that I'm not being paid for my efforts - just helping out a friend.

I'm thinking the best chance for online exposure and traffic is through Google Places but the main keyword is very competitive for the local area (NYC). The keyword is also not part of the domain name (unlike the high ranking Google Places competition).

I submitted a complete profile with pictures, etc. a few weeks ago but it has yet to rank. No surprise there. I know I'm missing something (other than a fantastically optimized website)

So I need some suggestions here. Which WSO or other resource should I purchase? I would rather hear from actual WSO buyers v. authors please. I've wasted a bit of money buying overly complicated and/or useless WSOs this past year. $7.00 here and $10.00 there adds up over time.
