I have a new autoresponder series set up with Mailchimp to send to my own clients. I've manually added their emails, but the series isn't triggered, even though I selected the import date as the start date. From some of my hunting around, it looks like the autoresponders won't be triggered because the people didn't opt-in themselves. Is this right? This is 5 simple names! Anyone know how I can make this work? Or what other service will allow me to do this? Aweber? I have no loyalty to MailChimp if they're going to give me these kinds of headaches. |

I think if you are adding leads manually they need to click the approval link that is sent to their mail. Most auto responders do this if you are importing leads. You are better off to mail them saying they need to opt in here to receive your mails |

They need to opt-in through Mail Chimp or if you're importing them from another place there needs to be proof that they opted-in (usually in the form of IP address, date, etc). How else is the autoresponder company supposed to know that these people actually want to receive your email? |

I know the double opt-in is so that only the people that want the emails will get them, but these are people I have known for a long time, and its only 5 of them, and it would just be more helpful if I could get the autoresponder sequence started without them having to opt-in. Which was the point of my question. I need a way around this. @swasa, I will take a look at Email M. Thanks for suggesting it. Thanks for your answers. |

If you are doing any sort of affiliate marketing I would recommend moving from MailChimp anyway... they don't really play nice with us marketers and have been know to stop accounts.. Not bad mouthing them, just telling it how it has been told many a time before about MC. |

If you've imported the names, you're going to likely have that issue with almost any third-party service. ... although I've heard iContact is looser about it. Some people, I hear, use them for post-webinar RSVP imports into their list. So, you could check out icontact. I don't know for sure since I don't use them (I use Aweber). |

I guess I really should check out some others besides MailChimp, Alex. Maybe iContact will be a good one. Thanks for the suggestion, David.

Highly recommend using a different service provider. I tried using Mailchimp and the UI was not intuitive at all. I had prior experience working with Aweber and QUICKLY moved back. Very glad I did, even tho it's more money, it is much better for what we do as marketers and we wont be wasting time trying to figure out how everything works... we spend enough time in front of computer screens! |

After conducting a brief investigation I found that MailChimp is in fact more expensive than most other providers. All they have is an attractive free plan that beats all the others easily. I'm looking for a responder now and am hearing great things about imnica mail.

Good for you...It's a great decision to switch from MC. I just got my account disabled, and then deactivated... Guess what...No mail notification , no nothing... I did tell them about I'm an Internet Marketer before, and I told them if they don't want me to use their service, please tell me before I start using them. Instead they replied, the only internet marketing they don't approve of is affiliate marketing (they really hate affiliate link being sent over the mail). They also told me, as long as I'm only sending links to my own site, I'll be fine. Guess where I'm after I spent my time learning how to use their service...Kicked out, no mail reply, no backup list, no contact person that I can call... I must admit they are good at delivering mail, but their system seems to have bug on it, and they can be really cruel at some point... Lesson learned, time to move on... Thanks mailchimp for providing me the opportunity to try out their autoresponder... |
