I was doing some keyword research today and came across a fairly competitive keyword (dive watches for men) where the first result was a sniper site (divewatchesformen.net). So I checked out its backlinks on yahoo site explorer and noticed they were all profile links. This surprised me as I thought profile links were useless after the panda update. Am I mistaken? Are profile links still valuable? Should I use them for my sniper sites? |

I do not use profile links on a site that is less than 6 months old with less than 1,000 already indexed links, reason being profile links usually comes in blasts of 2000-7000 which will throw your site around more that a rough storm at sea in the serps, they are better off used to link to your tier 1 links, example issue a paid press release then build profile links to the press release housed on a high pr domain. Profile links have also been de-valued post panda, but some of the post panda is hype as well.It is more about unique content now, and more against link farms which profile links are mostly. The link farms did play their part and still can do some good if issure right. The one problem is that there are more trash sites out there than good informational websites. To be blunt there is no easy path to the money. Hard work adn lots of it will pay off eventually.
