Default Blog Backup / Cloner

Could you guys give me your opinion about the best back up/ cloner tool for Wordpress. Price is not as important as a tool that works.

I am looking for something to backup my blogs after i get them done so I have a copy and also something to clone a basic setup.

What is working for you guys.

Thanks Doug

Hi Doug, Robert Plank has an excellent backup/cloner that just came out. I been using it like mad, and it works very well. Here's his link Backup Creator - not a affiliate link

Hi

I use wptwin and am very happy with it, and never as yet encountered a problem.
You can learn more at wptwin.net (not an affiliate link)

All the best

Out of all of them on the market, WPTwin is the best and user friendly in my opinion. Unfortunately it cost the most($79) but definitely worth it.

I haven't tried Robert Plank's because it just came out, but he makes good products, and for $27 it's a steal.

You can also take an entire backup of your wordpress blog, including database through hosting control panel.

Thanks everyone, i had been leaning toward WP Twin before I posted this thread but wanted to know what kind of experience people have had with the different products. Roberts product certainly looks good for 27 bucks.

I appreciate everyones input.

One advantage we have with WP Twin that other newer cloning alternatives don't is this - we've had around 4,000 users who have deployed I think (from memory) over 100,000+ clones...

So we've patched a million little issues that are dependent on specific servers our users might have. I don't think any other competitor in the market can make such a claim.

Yep, we're $97 and others are cheaper. But we've made I believe 24 official updates since launch and we actually just hired 2 new full time employees for support.

when it comes to price, quality and service... it's impossible to be the best in all 3. So of the three, we'd rather focus on quality and service and sell our stuff for a little more than the competition.

It is, after all, a VERY important thing in your business (backing up blogs) and that's not something it's necessarily wise to be cheap with

One final thought - I'd be worried about using ANY wordpress backup/cloner that is a PLUGIN. WP Twin is a php script, independent of wordpress itself.

If it requires you to log INTO wordpress to run it, then there are a variety of issues that can cause conflict with the cloning procedure.

Plus, plugins often times can CONFLICT with each other... hence why we created a standalone PHP script outside of wordpress to do the clone - we've found the success rate of a perfect clone to be much, much higher for our customers than any plugin alternative that exists out there.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, thank you for taking the time to reply to this thread. I have been a customer of yours all the way back to your how to write articles WSO.

As I stated earlier price has never been the main thing. I just wanted other Warrior's opinions about their personal experiences and I want the best product out there regardless of price.

I have a lot of respect for both you and your products.
