Default Download protection review

I'm quite annoyed at the moment.

After moving my product from e-junkie to clickbank, I wanted a way to protect the product from thieves looking for a download page, obviously.

The first option was to use a fellow Warrior's solution. They host the product and an expiring link to download the product is sent to every buyer.

I thought I had it set up correctly, but it wasn't working with the Clickbank test sale.

I contacted them about this to see if perhaps either:
a) I had it set up correctly, but it doesn't process with a test sale
b) I hadn't it set up correctly
No response. I tried through a forum PM as well as the contact details given. Nothing.

So I tried another option...

Another Warrior, this time offering a WP plugin (I've built my site on WP) which protects the page, but allows the customer to use their order number to get access.

Again, it wouldn't work. Again I contacted directly and through the forum. Again nothing!
1. What is their problem?

2. Can anyone give me another option?

well the s2member plugin is free and gives you an option to give send a link that expires to the download page (although it's one of the lesser known features of the plugin and the documentation is a bit confusing)

You may need to pay extra for clickbank support, but I believe paypal support is free.

It might be that they are at the other end of the world in a different time zone? If they're local to you then typically a reply within 24 hours is normal, unless there's a power outage. Other than that, if it has been less than a full day, just give them time. If it's been 2 weeks, well..... You might try DLGuard.

This is what happens when you meet newbies who pose as "WP Experts" and ditch you in the middle..

Contact me and trust me I will not disappoint you.

P.S. I am not selling or promoting my service, I will do it for free.

That can happen - they could be on holiday, sick or in a different time zone.

You can try posting in their thread about the lack of support after a few days, that often gets their attention.

A good option would be to buy RAP or DLGuard and install this on a central server and have it handle payment / delivery?

All the best

Just for clarity, I contacted these guys ages ago. Not yesterday or the day before.

The first on August 31st.

The second about a week later.

To be fair to the second guy, the plugin was free. But he has a paid Pro version. But I'm not likely to upgrade if the free version doesn't work, am I?

You can use ejunkie even if the sales are processed through clickbank. Here is an article: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/selling-with-clickbank.htm

Another option is dlguard.com

Are there limitations to using e-junkie?

I can barely understand what that page is trying to tell me! lol

I'd like to use DeliverMyFile, but I can't get any help.

Unfortunately, good support is difficult to find. I agree with you, if you can't get support for their entry-level product, skip all of their products.

Good luck,
Allan

Well, A product is going to be shared regardless.

Even though the link has expired, it's still on their own
computer. I guess it all comes down to the type of people
your offer attracts.

I'm well aware that it's impossible to stop all thieves.

If someone really wanted to break into my house I'm sure they could without too much problem. But that doesn't mean I leave the doors unlocked when I go out.

The same goes for my product.

Hi Melanie, It looks like you are using optimizepress? Why don't you just setup a membership backend for delivering the product?

Is this something I can do for free? OP hasn't got membership features on its own (unless I'm missing something).

Perhaps there's a free membership plugin that works with Clickbank? It's a good idea if there is.

Free would be great, but unfortunately with Optimizepress, it is not free. You would need a script. This is why I chose ProfitTheme over Optimizepress. You don't need a script, and it is almost identical to Optimizepress. You might find that using ProfitTheme is a cheaper option than buying a script.
Hope that helps!

Hi Melanie,

There is a product you should look at called SmartDD-Lite.
You can find it here: SmartDD Lite Digital delivery the Smart Way and that's not an affiliate link.
It was developed by Frank Haywood and you can get it free if you sign up to his list at Product Creation, Traffic, List Building, Automation = Internet BusinessFrank Haywood | Product Creation, Traffic, List Building, Automation = Internet Business

Good luck!

Hi Don,

Does it work with Clickbank? I don't see any mention of Clickbank on the page, just Paypal.

Although it is not a free option, I have to say that if you an afford DLGuard, it is well worth the money.

I have been using it for over two years, and it is an outstanding product with a one-time payment and amazing support. Also, it will work with ClickBank, as well as 18 other payment options.

Everybody I know that is selling a product is using DL Guard
with very good resuls because you can have total control over it,
in other words, it protects your download page very well.
