I can't use Aweber. Who do I use?

Aweber is pricey, $20 for 500 subscribers. I'm thinking about just letting my pc run 24/7 have it monitor my db for new subscribers and then auto emailing them using my gmail account or whatever, thoughts?

People talk bad about free autoresponders but I guess it depends on what you are using it for.

I have List Wire - The world's best FREE Autoresponder!

They are free. Unlimited prospects, unlimited broadcasts, unlimited followups. Has a little advertisement at the bottom of your emails and your optin box - But its free. So I dont really see the problem with them.

Doesn't that advertisment kill your lead? seems unprofessional to me, but I don't know if it matters.

The overwhelming majority of paid autoresponder services include a small link at the bottom, back to their service... companies like InfusionSoft, iContact, Constant Contact, OfficeAutpilot, Bronto, MyEmma, and the list goes on...

It's also at the bottom... not the top. I'm not sure why it'd kill response rates any more than running your videos on YouTube, or hosting a Fan Page on Facebook... which, by the way, are both free services.

Why would it? The overwhelming majority of paid autoresponder services include a link back to their sites... just like we do.

Who exactly? Well, iContact, Contant Contact, Office AutoPilot, InfusionSoft, Bronto, and the list goes on.

A link back to us isn't going to kill conversions on anything.

  • Go for MailChimp, its free and unlike listwire it does not have those annoying ads. If you are serious enough to go for premium I suggest that you look for GetResponse they offer their services at very low prices. I've been using both for quite a while and I think its great.

It's free, and the minute you send a single affiliate mailing out through the services... you're done. They'll close your account, and you lose access to the list. This has been discussed, at length, on the forum...

I'm also not sure what "annoying ads" everyone is talking about. I'm beginning to think that people are confusing us with some old, free autoresponder service... or someone else entirely.

    Hey guys,

I have problems accessing Aweber. Even Aweber can't work out why. It looks like it's something to do with my router. I've NEVER heard of this before and I've even worked in an IT department. Anyway..

I'd like to get a campaign set up by the end of the day preferably but am stuck on who to use. I'm not using any affiliate links because I fear I will just be spammed with crap services for people to pocket some cash with.

GetResponse are one of the main competitors for Aweber.

Not tried it but plenty of people I know have used MailChimp outside the IM field.

Then there are people like Constant Contact and Infusionsoft

At least one of those should be able to get you up and running pretty fast.

I would suggest staying away from Icontact. They are fairly big but i have heard of a few people having problems with them. I did look at them when i first started out and they looked less user friendly than others. That may have been because i was new myself at that point though

Well, there are :p. THe problem is that the next step are professional mailing proviers such as emailvision / campaigncommander, that are LIGHTYEARS away from Aweber & Co.

Downsite: Setup costs for those start at 10'000 USD and monthly fees are 2500+.

So that only makes sense if you have a huge list, if you want to do REALLY personalised stuff or have high-ticket products....

Listwire is not that great because they send your subscribers to ads and stuff. Mailchimp doesn't allow afiliate marketing. I would recommend Imnica Mail. They start you at 1 dollar a month and then it's only 7 bucks a month after that.

I have used many mail services...

MailChimp is good for small business, not for massive campaigns or affiliates - it is free to use under 2k subscribers last time i checked. So great for some, not for others...

Infusionsoft has bomb @$$ software which is awesome to use however they have a steep price with their one time setup fee. Also, willing to work with you on spam rate issues as long as you are taking verifiable steps towards correcting the issue...

iContact is generally just all around average, ehh - they do have a strict spam policy

EasyContact lacks many advanced features but for basic emailing its fine - no merge fields and importing larger than 1.5k contacts is a pain....

I know I have used a few more but I can't remember off the top of my head....

I suggest you seriously take a look at autoresponder plus. In November they are launching a brand new product called Arp4. Anyone purchasing the current version will automatically be upgraded to the new one. They have been working on this new version for it seems like years.. They claim it will have new functions never seen in a Autoresponder before. I currently use there old version and love it. One time fee and unlimited autoresponders for life.

Have an email list of over 10,000 subscribers that this program has been handling flawlessly for several years.

Out of all that information I have learnt a lot,I am presently with Awebber but the cost does go up quite substantially when you reach 500 so maybe I will consider one of the above alternatives. The reason you pay for quality is that your list is assured not to be lost with awebber and get response but free autoresponders can wipe you out with no comeback.something to consider

      Hi everyone,
I currently use Aweber for my business, but I have been asked to create websites and fan pages for local businesses. They do not have a big budget as you can probably imagine and also do not understand what I am talking about when I am explaining the options to them. So... I am creating wordpress sites with static pages, if they are internet savvy I will add a blog page...
NOW... do I offer lead capture? If so how and what to offer... I could not offer it and just get paid for the site creation, then mention an add on afterwards, or could set up an autoresponder for them and hope they get to grips....
The thing is, as I see it, if you cannot setup a page, you can't really operate an autoresponder... but of course I could be completely wrong, as I'm speaking from my own perspective.

I signed up for listwire, but not looked into at length so please forgive me if I am wrong, but it looks like you can only use it for one user... multiple lists but only for one user. Also I am getting emails promoting other marketers products from Gary Ambrose, this is fine but I did not expect this, so if I create a listwire account for a customer (which I also don't know if I can do) I assume they would get the same.

I wonder if you warriors have any advice for me
      Many Thanks...

I've said it once, and I'll say it again...

There are NO EMAILS sent to your subscribers. It's YOUR list, not ours...

What we do is send offers to our members. It's the list-building strategy that's older than the internet... offer something of value for free in exchange for the opt-in. That's what List Wire does, and why you, as a member, will get our offers.

I've tried a lot of them, free and paid and with all the added features and ease of operation, I went back to aweber. But if you have to use free to begin with, use the free service offered at fastpitchnetworking.com.

Of all the services I tried, these two had the least number of bounced or undelivered emails. What good is your list if 30-50% of them get blocked and never delivered which is what I ran into at constant contact and icontact.

Actually, I can see what you are asking and answer is yes.

To clarify: If your client set up a Listwire account with his e-mail address then, yes, he would get Gary's e-mails to that address which will promote affiliate products. Also, as I understand it, if he were to unsubscribe from those mailings, then he would lose his Listwire account so you would have to make your client aware of this. The subscribers to his lists, however, would not get Gary's e-mails, as Gary has pointed out many times in this thread.

Another thing to bear in mind is that each subscriber would be shown an OTO page of a MMO niche product during the subscription process. Now you may be cool with that and accept that it is a small 'inconvenience' to have for a free service. Or you may not. Just that you should be aware of it.

Actually, if Gary hasn't already put you off with his caps lock typing, the Listwire service is not too bad. I have an account which helps keep the costs of my other paid accounts within reasonable price bands. I have been happy with deiverability and it does have some very nice functions - also it is very easy to use.

Back to the OP. I have accounts with ImnicaMail, GetResponse and Listwire. Out of the three I would say that ImnicaMail offers the best for an all-round, value for money service.

Michelle... Here's where the problem lies...

Technically, you can't sign up for any other service on behalf of a client of yours... you, yourself could sign up, using your own contact information, and email address, and then manage the list for them... but you can't sign them up.

You can't sign them up, using their email address, and contact information, as the information of record... you also can't agree to any service provider's terms of service on behalf of someone else...

I'm sure people do it, but in doing so, you're already in violation of the terms of service...

    -Gary Ambrose

P.S. I think a lot of people are missing the big picture with List Wire... it's not designed to work in every market under the sun. It's designed primarily for affiliate marketers, and people looking to start building a list, or people who can't afford to pay for an autoresponder service when they're getting started...

If you're an offline business, a $20 a month advertising expense is probably a tiny percentage point of your total monthly expenses... if you're a stay at home mom on a limited budget because you, and your husband are out of work... or someone based out of the Philippines, $20 a month can be a huge expense you just can't afford.

A $1.00 trial doesn't help any of those people... all it does is give them 30 days to either make enough money cover their expenses, or to give up, and start all over again.

And let's be honest... how many people are you seeing who make their first money online in under 30 days? I'm constantly seeing posts from people here who have been at it for over a year without seeing a sale...

Why waste $20 a month over that year, and go $240 in the hole? Why not get started making money first... before adding expenses?
