You don't really need to buy a turnkey website to figure out how things work. You should be able to sort it out yourself.

For example use HTTrack to pull down website code from websites you like. This way you can start learning how to incorporate the things you like on one site into your own sites.

If you're looking for successful websites, many of them to be found around the web, and you don't actually have to buy them to figure them out. Take a look at sites for sale on SitePoint and other places, and try to figure out what makes them successful and why they are able to get customers to actually buy.

    HTH,

I agree, i dont think you need a turnkey website, theres a whole pile of information you need to learn to get traffic to the website, optermisation of your turnkey website is far more complicated than building a site.

You should think about joining warrior groups you can learn alot " The Absolute Newbie Success Blueprint " is a good group to start with its got a link to a really good free ebook, plus this forum is probobly one of the best libraries of marketing information.

All good advice, but if you insist on finding turnkey websites for sale, you can check Sitepoint's Startup Website's For Sale Section.

You can find some really good deals on Ebay. I end up buying sites that I can use myself, like free image hosting sites (e.g. hotshotsite.com, feel free to use). I also find sites that I can use to "park" domains at, until I build something else on them. A lot of the sites on Ebay are crap, but you can find some pretty decent ones for less than $50.

William sold DotComBuilder and Prozilla became Sellopolis which is now CertaPLR.com. The format has changed a lot since the first websites which were mostly simple affiliate and PHP3 sites. I still see a lot of people STILL selling them and I often get support requests through the default email in the sites, but like I wrote they were PHP3 so a lot of vulnerabilities and I no longer support them.

Certaplr took what Sellopolis was and it has become a lot larger. There is 95,000 PLR articles with add to cart and download as .xml to wordpress features. MRR ebooks, SEO directories (designed for local results) and niche blogs. There are only 7 niche blogs up at the moment, but I have about 50 left to convert and upload this week.

To convert the blogs, they are reconfigured from a basic blog to a fully customized and configured blog for the niche it is intended for, complete with many WordPress plugins including my own WP Spinner. Installation of all sites is now done through an installer for Cpanel hosting which only required your FTP and created database to complete. It seriously takes less than 30 seconds to install a website.

Once everything is up, I will be giving some review memberships away on WarriorForum.

Thanks to all for the info. I thought buying a turnkey would be a good way to shorten my learning curve since I'm a new to all of this plus I have sufficient capital to do so. Now after reading the comments, I'm wondering If any of you know someone who needs to raise money for other internet ventures and may want to sell their website and or a portion of one. Let me know. Thanks.

I would look on Ebay first.

First, I would do a search on Completed listings that sold for $100 - $200 in the Business & Industrial category. Once I got back some results I would then narrow this down to only websites.

Then I would sort the list by price and look at the sites that sold, making sure to note who the sellers were.

Most of the auctions will have a link to the site being sold. Visit those sites and do a view source to see the source code.

Some of the sites will be in HTML. Some will be in Wordpress or Joomla.

The question you need to ask yourself is, can you build those sites yourself, or do you need to outsource it?

      Hope that helps.

So assuming I can't build those sites myself, what would be my next step? Thanks.

I'm a newbie at internet marketing and I will probably take forever to learn programming. I know a very successful person in malaysia who started an internet marketing company with no IT background whatsoever. However, they understood how the SEO works and armed with a clad-iron marketing plan. I regret having spent so much time figuring out on how to build a website, and burnt myself out.

If you are looking for genuine profit making websites for sale, you might want to check out this course on "How to Buy an Online Business at a Great Price"/ by Richard Parker. It is the most complete course on how to buy a business online and offline including where to look for genuine online businesses for sale and questions to ask sellers which has really helped me seperate the good from the bad. The REAL deal comes when I get on-going consultation throughout the buying process by Parker and his team.

I think a turnkey site is a great idea for a newbie, IF the turnkey price is a good one. There will always be work involved in maintaining and promoting a website, unless you purchase one that has significant traffic and already has long standing income, etc.
if you can get a good price on a site, there is no reason you can't use it to learn from. Find one that interests you and it never hurts to contact the owner and ask if they would like to sell.
have a budget, KEEP that budget and wait. If you have the funds and a specific niche in mind, it may be worth developing your own product/ebook and site design from the bottom up.
There are also loads of Private Label ebooks you can brand as your own, again some software is often needed for this.
One I have set up as a move in ready site is Video Blogging Guide, vLog Guide. I bought a PLR ebook, branded it as my own, redid the entire design and there it is. I have no plans to do anything with it other than sell it when I have time.
There are a lot of good offers here on warrior forum for design and writing, if you are'nt in a rush, wait and save for your own product, ultimately I think it is the best way to go for anyone.
    Hope all my babbling helped!

    Hi,

I suggest getting wordpress setup on your hosting account and just play with the different themes (designs). Instead of some crappy, insecure and outdated POS script from eBay you can learn the industry standard CMS system for millions of websites. Trust me it's SUPER easy and will save you so much heartache compared to the cookie-cutter sites. If you setup a turnkey site that means 1000's of other people have the exact same content as you so you'll have no fighting chance of ranking in the search engines.

Come to think of it, Wordpress would actually be a quicker setup because the turnkey sites usually involve setting up MySQL database and modifiying a settings.php file somewhere + who knows what else. Most hosting companies have a quick-install for wordpress in their cPanel.

Leave now, I will. Wordpress, you must.

uh, half the sites on Turnkey Nation are old Prozilla sites. Here are just a few that are mine and they were developed using PHP3 in 2003 and discontinued in 2007. They were discontinued for a reason.

      AutoMall
      Banner Exchange
      Jokes
      Realty
      Recipe
      Career
      Legal forms
      Auction

I just emailed the seller to remove them but I expect it will be ignored. As the author of these sites I can tell you to stay away. If you really want them you can get them in a script package off ebay, but be warned again, they were discontinued for a reason.

If you want your website to make money for you automatically, with revenue streams already built into the website, then you need to make sure the website is called an affiliate turnkey websites. Many claim to sell "turnkey websites" that are nothing more than cookie utter templates. They resell the same Wordpress type of websites over again. You will not rank well in search engines unless your turnkey website company develops original websites, so I would avoid Wordpress that anyone can download. The only company I know that hand designs their sites in HTML and that will sell you a live established site with lots of revenue streams built in is Affiliate Turnkey Websites | Turnkey Website Businesses - ABC Design Studio.

Also avoid anyone selling drop ship sites. Those are so outdated before streamlined affiliate sites came around. Why be the middle man and deal with shipping and receiving when you can have this automated with affiliate sites?

Many people think these are the same thing too, and affiliate sites that are uniquely developed is the only way to get a good turnkey website.

I agree with the comments above about eBay. However, another thing you could do is get your hands on open source software like Wordpress and then explore themes and plugins. You'll find that easier to build up, rather than stripping down someone else's work to try and understand it.

Great advice as WordPress is updated as well. Plus there is a theme for just about anything these days.

Not a fan of Flippa. The sellers resell the same templates over and over again. That's why those sites are so cheap. They aren't hand-developing each one of those $100 websites. Duplicated sites don't rank in search engines, so it is best to go with a company that builds custom-unique turnkey websites. I like abcdesignstudio.com

Duplicated sites can sell as long as the content is changed and there is some meat with the traffic and users. However, if someone buys a turnkey package on ebay for $10 and uploads them to flippa out of the box, then the only one making the money is the original ebay seller and flippa.
