GODADDY vs HOST GATOR

I plan on registering multiple domains but I don't want to be tied by a bad hosting company, so I would just like to find out which of these two companies come reccomended by fellow marketers?

Go with HostGator. This is not even close.

GoDaddy is nice for domain registrations, but their web hosting leaves a lot to be desired.

For hosting, Hostgator is certainly very widely recommended by Warriors (and GoDaddy is fairly widely condemned by many here, though it has a few enthusiasts, too).

You do know not to register the domain-names wherever you're going to host them?

Hostgator. No question. GoDaddy is a disaster of a hosting company. I've had plenty of clients who use GoDaddy, so I've got first hand experience. Their interface is terrible.

For domains, Namecheap.

If you ask me, go for Namecheap for buying domains, and hostgator for hosting. Why suffer taking either one of the service with Godaddy?

I don't currently use either, but have used both in the past and would definitely go with Host Gator. IMO, GoDaddy is confusing and convoluted and I've been charged for things that I didn't even know were active because it was buried deep somewhere in their user admin section.

I get tons of support from them and they are always very helpful and available.

I do use godaddy for domain registration.coz it really work well for me. But i think if compare to use the web hosting service.I do think Hostgator seems better.

Namecheap and Hostgator are affordable and easy to navigate. Also, Host Gator has great customer support.

Hostgator is more suited to a business website. However, whoever you choose I recommend not hosting with the same company you register your domains with.

I am actually happy with Godaddy as a host. Any time I've had a problem I've been able to phone them 24/7 on a local rate call (given that I am in London and they are in America - I'm happy with that!) and get quick competant help.

Of course I make sure that my domains are actually registered elsewhere!

Whichever host you pick someone will be able to tell you about a horror story and someone will be able to recommend a better one.

I think a good strategy would be to make sure that your hosting and domain registration are separate and that you make regular backups - so that if you experience a problem then you can transfer quickly and easily. Ands as soon as it is viable - have two hosts and mirror sites so that you are not left in the lurch.

I'm actually in the middle of this exact same discussion on another forum. Here's what I recommend...

1) Use NameCheap for domains
2) Use HostGator for hosting
3) Don't get your domain and hosting from the same place

HostGator without a doubt... stay away from GoDaddy... their hosting is horrendous and using WP can be a nightmare with them... HostGator all the way!

I second the recommendation. We had several Hostgator accounts for years and still have one account there we use some, even though we have our own servers now. And namecheap is about the best domain company around.

I use godaddy for the domain and had used hostgator for hosting. hostgator was very good no downtime expereinced. I only had to move because they had a mailing limit(i use the hosting for sending emails to subscribers) so I had to move to a new server.

Im fairly certain I'll end up using Host Gator, I've seen their control panel vs that of go daddy. The only down side to Host Gator is their random security protocols that they have, insane isn't describing half of what you have to do to eventually register and activate your account. If you have never registered a hosting account this might be enough to put you off the whole idea.

I don't use shared hosting anymore, but if I were to use it, I'd have to go with HostGator from past experiences. I just remember HostGator shared being a little slow loading cPanel though.

Hostgator for sure for your hosting - the 24/7 live support is awesome. I used GoDaddy for 8+ years to register domains (never had any problems with them) and recently switched to Namecheap for the free privacy protection. I still like checking for free domains within GoDaddy's interface and haven't ruled them out for future domain registration if they make any changes or run special offers.

I used GoDaddy once and I will never use them again -- that goes for both domain registration and hosting. Absolutely awful experience. I've had an excellent experience with HostGator for hosting and NameCheap for domain registration.

Hosting your website at GoDaddy is like ordering the fried chicken at Red Lobster. It's not really what they do, so it's not going to be very good, but they don't care and neither do most of their customers.

I hosted my site on GoDaddy initially because I wanted to try to minimize paying through different companies..

HUGE mistake. GoDaddy hosting is horrendous, after a few months and countless server crashes, I switched to Host Gator and haven't looked back.

GoDaddy used to crash at least once a week for me, Host Gator hasn't missed a beat once!

When I first started out I used GoDaddy and it was horrible. I figured out real fast that GoDaddy was best for registering domains and Hostgator was the way to go for hosting. Seems like pretty much everyone here thinks this.

Running just about any script on GoDaddy will have you pulling your hair out!!

I installed a script on GoDaddy for a client and neither I or GoDaddy could get it to work. I have the same script intalled on HostGator and it runs flawlessly.

My client switched to HostGator and they migrated all of his files from GD for free and as soon as the migration was complete the script started running fine!

I'm so glad that I picked a highly recommended hosting service. I have never had a problem with Hostgator and I like the cpanel choices on the site. I've been using it for over a year now, no problems at all. And, I had someone else help me with my account (DNS and all).

I moved my hosting from GoDddy to Hostgator. In fact I feel stupid that I ever signed up for Godaddy in the first place. It was so cumbersome and not easy to follow. Hostgator has brilliant customer support and also tutorials..

Those Godaddy Help pages really irk me!

I can now have a new site and wordpress installed, email address configured on it in minutes without any issues through Hostgator.

Btw, I still register my domains through Godaddy and just update the DNS to point to my Hostgator hosting account when I purchase a new Domain..Simple as that!

I have accounts with both Bluehost and Hostgator. HG are amazing on price and beat BH hands down for customer service every time. For domains, I usually go with 123reg or GD.

Only use godaddy for domain registrations not for webhosting. I prefer namecheap over godaddy for domain registrations but if godaddy has a good sale going on then I'll buy a domain and switch it the next year to namecheap... HostGator has been great for hosting. I've been using Hostgator's baby shared plan for 3 years now and host 12 websites on the one account with no problems.

Godaddy is good for using them as a registrar and hostgator is better for hosting purposes. However, I would go with a custom made web companies for serious applications for you website.

I have never had a problem with Hostgator and I like the cpanel choices on the site. I've been using it for over a year now, no problems at all. And, I had someone else help me with my account (DNS and all).
