Default Is Alertpay a good payment processor for selling my own products?

I don't like Paypal for a number of reasons so I am in the process of getting an Alertpay account set up so I can begin selling my own products.

Does anyone on this forum use Alertpay as their payment processor?

Is it hard to get your product approved by Alertpay before they will allow you to put a "buy now" button on your sales page?

Thanks,
Dan

You may not "like Paypal for a number of reasons" but you will make more sales by having / using it.

I have to agree with the above statement. I've used both PayPal and AlertPay to sell the same product. When I switched to AlertPay there was a marked decrease in sales with AlertPay -- keep in mind that I've used AlertPay, along with other payment processors, since 2006.

First, AlertPay is having issues with VISA. They can't accept that. And contrary to their advertising they don't take AMEX either. With them, you're stuck with people funding the purchase with their AlertPay balance (which people can only fund through snail mail at the moment) OR using their MasterCard. That cuts your buying market significantly.

The second major factor why sales go down with AlertPay is that people don't know it or trust it yet. That's just a fact contrary to what anybody tells you.

If PayPal is not an option for you, then you're left with AlertPay. Keep in mind, of course, there are numerous other online payment processors to choose from.

Lastly, on the whole, AlertPay is great. They have an attractive and functional GUI. Keeping track of sales is easy. Integrating payment buttons into your site is a breeze. Withdrawals from your AlertPay account to your bank account is done in a decent amount of time (usually 3-5 business days). The only issue is that for you to accept credit card funded payments and offer payment buttons, you do have to upload your ID (as well as other documentation if requested) before you'll be approved for this feature. This process, unfortunately, can take some time. For me it took over 2 weeks. Others I've worked with reported between 7 and 10 business days depending on where you are located.

Hope this helps!

I've used AlertPay only as a secondary payment method besides PayPal. AlertPay is good for people outside US and Europe (eg. Asia) but as others say here I wouldn't stop PayPal at any way.

Never.

But even if I did I would use it. Buyers know and trust it so unless you can't use it you should be. It is just good for business.

Alertpay will do well for you if you're selling a product to Middle Eastern countries and countries near India, which tend to have problems with establishing PayPal accounts, so they have established themselves in those markets.

It's a largely unknown brand in the rest of the world, and won't inspire trust.

I'd be using Alertpay already if they verified my account with the corporation documents I submitted a whole 15 days ago.

I'm still pending approval / feedback.

Regarding PayPal, the issues you might encounter depends entirely upon your product. There are many people selling very different products and thus have many different experiences and opinions. Read their TOS, use some common sense and draw your own conclusions with regards to how you proceed based upon your service / product.
