Default Possible hosting options

Hi Warriors,

I've finally decided to take the plunge and create my own product, which I've managed to finish. I'm now in the process of trying to find a reliable hosting solution.

I'm looking for advice on finding reliable hosting that is not too expensive that includes a (WHM) web hosting manager allowing for unlimited domain names. I'm trying to steer clear of add-on hosting.

I've done a fair amount of research on various hosting companies, and I'm overwhelmed with information overload. So I thought I'd turn to you good folks who've been there and done that and can offer some suggestions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

HostGator is popular around here. Their reseller plans with WHM cost $24.95 per month, but if you want to spend less than that check out this list of cheap reseller plans.

Me too.

I have several hosts but I've been with them the longest for WHM hosting.

Hostgator does have a great support team, but I've found that they allow way too many sites on one server. Most other budget hosts probably do the same thing though, so they're not that bad for the price. Just remember, "You get what you pay for."

I've been with DataWebPro for many years. One of their servers hosting quite a few of my sites went down last week. I've posted several tickets to their help desk and even called them but have gotten no response. I've gotten to know Steve Hetrick and know this is very unlike him or his team.

Does anyone know if something has happened to this company?? Any information would be very much appreciated at this point!!

Hi Jody - Me too.

I've always had decent responses from Steve over the years but more and more recently it's only when I ask "why are all my sites down?" or "why doesn't email work on my sites?" that I get any information about the problem that's happening.

I'm actually going to move away from them soon because of this.

Wow, so it's not just me! I hope he's ok but right now I'm losing money. I just sent him a huge payment renewing hosting for a full year. He even told me recently he currently has about 1500 hosting customers. If anyone else knows anything about what's going on and can share it, I'm sure there's many of us who would greatly appreciate it!!

Steve has been a huge help to me in the past and I'm willing to wait a little longer if I know someone is one top of things but this dead silence over the past week is killing me.

I use Hostmonster for my main account and Hostgator for my secondary domains. My main site is about 12 years old and I began having lots of problems with my old hosting service which I now believe goes under the name of web.com about 4 years ago.

I talked with hostmonster tech before buying thier hosting, they advised me on how to move the entire site. I followed their directions and everything thing went exactly as planned and our site was up and running on their hosting in less than one hour and believe me I am not expert on this stuff.

I use hostgator's reseller account with some secondary domains that were set up about 3 years ago and found both their technical and regular customer service to be excellent.

I've used resellerzoom.com for over 5 years, hosting many websites, and I've been happy with them. WHM/Cpanel included. Very responsive customer support.

I have been a customer of Steve's for many years. Steve was always responsive, reliable and provided an excellent service. A few months ago, I noticed that started going down hill. I just leaned that Steve died suddenly last week at the age of 54! No other info except that there was no visitation or viewing. I will miss Steve. I'm saddened by his death and will pray for his family.

On the other hand, I had a bunch of wordpress sites on his servers that are now down and that I don't have access to. Hopefully, It's only very temporary until things get straightened out.

God bless him and his family...they suffered a huge loss.

Unfortunately your words "dead silence" were very accurate. How sad!

Today I saw the sales and customer support sites are down. I knew if must have been something serious. I agree with you. I'll miss him as well.

That's really sad.

Does this mean they're out of business? Are our sites gone for good? I have a lot of domains hosted with them still and they're all down. (and all the related emails of course) this is very bad and losing me money every day now.

I'm in the same boat as you. About 70 sites and all hosted with them. I have no clue about what might happen. I don't even have backups of the sites. Shame on me! It's a tragedy that Steve has passed and I learned a valuable lesson from that tragedy

Anyone who dealt with Steve has suffered a huge loss (and I'm not talking about business). He was a first rate guy who cared more for his customers than himself. I've known him and talked with him almost daily for 3 years - I had 15 dedicated servers with him at one time. I count Steve as a friend and mentor in many ways.

I told my wife months ago that if something should happen to me, she needed to make three phone calls:

Steve Hetrick
Mark Hendricks (my personal coach for years)
and my Project Manager / VA

Now I've added Willie Crawford and Regina Smola to that list. Regina is a top server setup and security specialist and Willie...

Willie Crawford bought my hosting company and part of the benefit was the great support from Steve. In the last few days, we've been scrambling to unravel the puzzle left in the wake of this. Here's what we've found:

There are layers of hosting companies and data centers.

The final stop with Steve's servers is GNAX.com in Atlanta. But the intermediary (reseller) was Coast Inc. We've contacted Coast Inc and told them of Steve's passing. They are trying to connect family or a representative to figure out what to do.

If you're hosted with Steve's Datawebpro, I suggest you contact both those companies below to put MORE pressure on them for a solution.

Willie is bringing on permanent support at NicheSimple.com to fill the gaps in his (formerly mine) hosting company. An easy solution for you would be to move your hosting there and it would all be handled under the same roof.

Here's the contact info for both:

Affordable Website Hosting Company Coast Internet Solutions - they only have e-mail support

http://GNAX.com

jhinkle@gnax.net (Jeff Hinkle Owner of GNAX) - they will refer you to Coast Inc. but it's a good thing to let them put the pressure on Coast Inc to respond because they don't like fielding customer support tickets.

404-230-9150 x210

Hope this helps.

Although HostDime is not unlimited in anything and a bit more exspencive, I'd say HostDime is probably the most DEPENDABLE company I have ever worked with. I used them for my business myself. Highly recommended. Check out Hostgator if that is to expensive for you.

David,

I appreciate the recommendation, but Coast Inc tells me that they still
show Steve's company as their official customer, and they believe
that they are now in contact with "someone" at that Datawebpro.

They told me that they can not legally discuss issues pertaining
to Datawebpro or "their servers" with anyone outside the company.

As you know, I have a dozen phone calls, support tickets, etc.
in to every number that I have with Datawebpro, and his 2
upline providers.

Steve had evolved into someone that I considered a friend
and trusted advisors. We two Air Force guys naturally hit it
off and he did provide incredible service. He will be missed.

It looks like we all have the same problem... that will be
resolved. I just have a few more people justifiably yelling
at me than most. Down site and inaccessible servers IS
a big problem.

Willie
