Phantom Link Cloaker vs LinkTrackr

Hi Warriors,

I m looking forward to invest in a link cloaking software. So far, i have come across a few products namely Phantom Link Cloaker, Ninja Link Cloaker and Samurai Link Cloaker. Looking at some reviews Phantom did a better job than Ninja and Samurai. However, LinkTrackr comes in a very sleek and modern interface. The pricing in on a monthly basis compare to Phantom which is a one time payment. Any comments..??

Cheers!!

Whatever you pick, make sure it has conversion tracking and split testing built in. I believe LinkTrackr has that. So does HyperTracker.com - ad tracker (another reputable one by the company behind GetResponse). This will come in very handy when you want to split traffic between 2 offers to see which one converts better.

Why not use prettylink free wp plugin or you could also setup a Custom Domain with bitly.

But this will only cloak the affiliate link and track clicks. like your two options. prettylink pro will track conversions.

A few questions and observations here:

1-I thought cloaking was banned by Google and would result in sites losing their rankings. I understand the difference between using a cloaked site that redirects a person to another site (like building one site for the search engines and another for actual people), versus using a program like Pretty Link Pro that cloaks, but how do the search engines know the difference? They are both cloaked links. I have steered away from cloaking for some time because of this question.

2-How does some hacker steal your link and your conversions? Even if you use Pretty Link Pro, how does that protect you? Won't they have to sign up as their own affiliate to get their own link to get paid? Using my link will not pay them.

3-How deep do you have to go to hide a cloak or should we even try? I mean if I had 3 redirected domain names, each one pointing to the other and that eventually led to a real 4th domain, and then added some cloaks in there somewhere, will that do the trick or will all 4 domain names get banned? I am not trying to do some blackhat research here, I just want to understand the process to protect myself and my sites (and my customers sites).

There are a few reasons why one would want to cloak a link (as opposed to "cloaking" a page) and hiding the referrer is not an issue for some of these.

            A. If you want to just make a pretty looking link so visitors don't think you're using an affiliate link and you want to get around virus scanning software killing your links.

            B. If you are using WP, you have the option of many plugins - Redirection, prettylinks, etc. Most can do some counting clicks but they aren't full conversion reporting program. But for simple cloaking and tracking who is clicking on what links. These work well!

            C. If you want to hide the referrer (example, hiding ppv/FB/Bing traffic sources from a CPA Network) then using tracking platform or script like bevomedia affportal, imobitrax, etc. or using double meta refresh, scripting to wipe the referrer and or getting SSL on a domain will strip the referral data.

I have used LinkTrackr myself, and what I don't like about it is that it's not self hosted, and the process of creating a new link should be quite easier and faster.

We have had issues with a lot of different link cloakers and that's why we created Easy Link Cloaker

It is self hosted and can also be used in the WordPress admin area. We just weren't happy with other link cloaking software and programs.
