Hi, I am looking for 3D animation software. Do you have any suggestions? I saw this site. no affiliate link, http://www.3dmagixsoftware.com but the price is too low for me to believe it will do what it promised. Can you suggest any other software? |

I began my career in graphics, animation, and modeling, then moved to video, then print & prepress. I worked with virtually every 2D & 3D app and system out there, from dedicated systems running on SGI workstations to produce movies, down to dedicated modellers & shaders. Autodesk 3D Studio (Max & Design) are about the top programs out there. These are industrial-grade, top-of-the-line applications, and can run from 3 to 4 figures. But if you're doing any serious 3D animation, they are virtually boundary-less, and can produce faster and more efficiently, on a relatively inexpensive machine, than anything else out there. Again, this isn't 'play around' stuff, but if you're looking for professional tools, these are it. I believe you can download trials as well. 3ds Max - 3D Modeling, Animation, and Rendering Software - Autodesk Michael |

I'm have little experience with animation software, but I recently bought a copy of Poser by Smith Micro. It's not as intuitive as I was hoping for as a novice, so I'm still trying to get the hang of it. I seems pretty powerful, though. Amazon had it much cheaper than anywhere else. You may also want to look into Daz Studio, which is a similar program. |

If you are looking for a great free alternative, I have read some great things about blender. I heard it was for linux but if you google it I am sure you will see if there is a windows version.
