I am hosting with hostgator for a while, 1 year to be more exact, and they are quite good, they have a very good support and good prices. I also heard good things about liquid host, they are a bit expensive than hostgator.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Stay away from JustHost. They are the worse hosting ever.

I do not recommend Godaddy for web hosting only for domain registrations.

Host Gator, for the simple reason there technical support is absolutely amazing, 24 hours a day, they really do make the difference.

I'll add my vote for Hostgator as well. Been using them for all my niche sites and have had no problems. Their customer service is one of the best in the industry among the other hosting companies, IMO. Bluehost would be my second preference.

I use BlueHost for all my hosting, I'm constantly uploading large files, pictures and videos and they have never failed me...Yet .

    BlueHost, hands down.

I've had HostGator, Godaddy, DreamHost, and a number of others over the years but BlueHost has always been my main hosting. The support is amazing, they are very quick to react on most anything and they are extremely consistent across all fronts.

In fact, I just signed up for reseller hosting with them.

If for some reason you don't want to go with BlueHost... runner up would be HostGator. They have a significantly larger customer base however and in the past I've found that their support and services are often negatively affected by this fact.

PS: Stay away from GoDaddy for hosting and don't even think about DreamHost.

HostGator all the way. GoDaddy is great for registering domains, but has some of the most user un-friendly hosting I've ever seen. HostGator is easy to use and has super customer service. You can't go wrong with them as far as I've experienced. And the price is very good, one of the best around.

Folks, please use the search function more often. Every day it seems someone new is asking this question. If you would just use the search function more, you would find all the answers you're looking for!

Yes, and most all of them recommend HostGator, because that's what a great many of the people here are using and it's there only experience, but the reality is there are many fine hosting services that will do just as good a job if not better in price and features as you grow your business.

Just wander over to webhostingtalk.com and check out the recommendations about them. Users there put most of these services through some heavy duty paces and know where most of the skeletons are hidden.

In that case, try WiredTree VPS, fully managed , and go with their Litespeed Web Server option. Pay in advance one year and you get the addition of the Litespeed option for the regular monthly price.

It depends on your requirements. Yes, HostGator is a great company as mentioned above. You will also find out that HostGator has flaws as well. You need to do some research first. I'm not sure why a VPS is mentioned above, as in most cases you won't notice a difference unless your site is using lots of CPU/Mem.

Since you mentioned using a lot of image/picture site - look into a caching service such as CloudFlare. LiteSpeed (Which HostGator is not using) and CloudFlare combined is an amazing combination. There are a lot of web hosts out there that offer CloudFlare already integrated with their hosting.

Some companies offer extras such as backups and builders and some don't, which is where you want to do your research to find out which company fits you.

Justhost or Hostgator both very good i've used both over a number of years and haven't had any real problems with either. It can be a pain moving, if you find you are not happy with the web host you are with at present.

Well, if you're on Tumblr, you can count yourself lucky because they actually have a static file hosting. It's free, too!

Other than that, I don't know any other site that hosts pictures with great bandwidth. Photobucket isn't a good idea, too.

I'm not an expert but I think the LiteSpeed/Cloudflare won't be a meaningful advantage compared to being hosted on a plan that is easily sufficient in its size and with a fast host (the situation you would encounter with HostGator and several other non-LiteSpeed hosts).
Still, Kingfish is right that its worth looking into further.

If you don't go with HostGator, MDDHosting and HawkHost are both good and both are LiteSpeed.

If you elect to go with HostGator, I listed some coupons at HostgatorHub.com.

Would still help because CloudFlare is caching static content, helping reduce server load and bandwidth & filtering bad traffic.

The best hosting is definitely Hostgator. I've heard a few people say they really like Bluehost or a few others, but I think most prefer Hostgator.

I was just saying that I doubt CloudFlare will make all the meaningful a difference when the package is probably more powerful than needed. But yes I agree it will make a diference.

And although all three offer CloudFlare, HostGator is not LiteSpeed, so the suggestion by KingFish about a LiteSpeed CloudFlare combination is not an option.

LiteSpeed (Which HostGator is not using)
I was saying LiteSpeed & CloudFlare in general, not referring to HG. I know they don't use LiteSpeed. CloudFlare WILL make a major performance difference on 9 out of 10 websites.

The cases where it doesn't is most likely because people are using too many plugins when it comes to Wordpress.
